Not a van or a truck but just got my timing chain and gear replaced on my 2005 Scion xA. A problem Toyota knows about with this engine but will only fix it up to 60k. Mine has 115k. This cost me $1175 ick!!!!!

Most manufacturers recommend replacement at 100k because they are belts now instead of chains. They like to make parts that wear out, they are good for business.

Just having fun here playing carrier games with my drivers. Now I know why bigger companies have so many rules and trucks waiting on stand-by. Being the carrier is more work than I had originally anticipated. I am at least breaking even with my fixed operating expenses right now which is a good thing. No loads for me personally though this week. I hope you guys are staying warm out there.

Moved over near El Paso from Ontario, CA. Ouch.

Bolt brokered out a load from El Paso to Laredo Yesterday. From one bad area to another lol. I always got loaded out of SOCAL when I was with Bolt. But the way things have been lately, the game plan is much different than it was a year ago. Good luck Paul.

We got a load that was our only offer that week that we delivered early AM on the 17th in Mojave, CA and had a short run over to Vegas on the 20th. We waited a couple of days in Vegas then moved back to Ontario, since then we received one offer on the 22nd to pickup 5 days later by San Diego and go to Laredo for well under .50/mile. We left Ontario on Thursday night sat here for awhile today and I called in to see if we would get a load this week and they asked if I wanted to be "aggressive" and take a load for .50 or .60 a mile. They came up with nothing so it didn't matter, so over 3 weeks and only 2 loads. Things aren't looking very good for Bolt and I to have a working relationship much longer because they seem to think people do this to break even after fuel and their ridiculous fees.

Got to the J in Temple last night. This morning I ask "When is Denny's going to open?" I was told it was not. They have pulled out of this J here. So, coffee will have to be somewhere else fur-ya.

Yup, things are bad. I had to go a bit low on some of the loads for my drivers recently, but I stil payed one 85 cents per mile and the other got 90 cents per mile. When I get aggressive, I still have certain standards to follow. But my profit wasn't much. I am still glad to get my drivers some work while raking in some extra cash in the meantine. I hope Bolt gets ya guys moving real soon, things seem to be much different this year.

"Aggressive"!!... Now, that right there is some funny stuff. Rather poor attempt at putting lipstick on the pig.

Getting ready to leave the Fargo Petro, on my way to Bellingham, Wa.

If I get another offer like that I am going to ask what the percentage is, I don't see a reason to be paying them anything to get me poor paying loads as I can do that on uship.

Those prices are better than what we have been seeing, when we even get a load. The thing I don't understand is that Bolt is clearly picking up cheap freight at this point, other people were getting loads out of the LA area quickly going to better areas but no one was complaining about rates so I don't think they were bad.

The good news is we avoided a negative paycheck this week and are getting just over $1/mile, the bad news is we are going to Laredo.

Paul,

I'm still only a company driver and my company doesn't seem to care about DH costs, so I'm probably biased but why stay there that long?

Why not take a loss 2 weeks ago and get out of there? Wouldn't losing $300 in fuel or whatever 2 weeks ago to get out of there and get back east to make money been worthwhile?

I know you did some family visiting in there, so I'm not sure how that figures in, I'm mostly just curious.
