Just got done running a 280 mile load for 450 dollars in my lowly cargo van. The broker didn't even hesitate on it. I guess that is a good rate for something that delivers to a power company. I have another load booked for monday 120 miles for 130 dollars. I had to go cheap on this one unfortunately, just making 1.08 a mile or something like that. But i'll still clear 60 dollars for 4 hours worth of work. That's better than working at labor ready! Stay safe out there.

Yessir, 560 miles for $450 is good, kinda. You are doing good as a Carrier grasshopper.

unless I missed something, I would say he is doing better as a carrier than you would be as a math teacher. LMAO... My math says 400 mi for $580... but like I said, I could be missin something :D

It was very simple. 280 loaded miles from Carson, CA to Henderson, NV for 450 total dollars. There is no math involved cept that fact that I made almost as much as a straight truck would have made on this run. I drove 280 miles home empty and still netted 310 dollars after fuel. The ride there and back was pretty relaxing too "as I do not have dispatchers calling me every hour!"

Yup. There hasn't really been many loads that i've gotten from other companies this year that I couldn't have gotten for myself for a better rate. And if I have to cut the rate a bit to get moving, it doesn't hurt that bad, because no one is getting a cut. Just gotta think outside the box.

I moved back to Ontario, CA. Hey Blizzard I'll run one of those loads for you.

Sitting in an Urgent Care waiting to take a random drug test??? Has anyone in a van had to do this before? I'm not an employee, I have my class A still but I am not under DOT regulations.

Paul, Jenny or I would get hit with a "random" drug & alcohol test almost every quarter at our previous carrier. At our expense of course.

I know I will pass but I wonder how many times that plan has backfired with van drivers thinking it would not happen.

At least I didn't have to pay for this, it was just kind of odd. I had to do a random test a few times when I was a truck driver with Arnold. One time I had 2 within 3 weeks, I just seem to be lucky.
