Occupy Wall Street?

Being laid off is being treated like property?

So if being laid off is being treated like property, and treating someone like property is wrong, then no one could ever be laid off, is that what you're saying? How does that not enslave the business owner? How does that not violate one's right of freedom of association?

And if no one can be laid off if business slows down, and the company can't control its expenses and they eventually have to close, sending 500 people to the unemployment line, that's much better, isn't it?

if you were able to think you would know . yep it is still the 1700s,.1800s . stay in your make believe world .

just be glad that the people who are protesting now .are fighting for your rights and your freedom too . they are not protesting just for themselfs.

Let's assume you may be correct in that they are secretly yearning for liberty. Then why fight outwardly for things which contradicts the very idea of liberty? Liberty is extinguished faster with every minute law created by liberal types.

One thing I've learned is that liberals don't want liberty - they want rights. Liberty is for all. Rights are for groups. Liberty protects us from government. Rights protect us from each other.

Me thinks they want rights, as they have no clue what liberty is.

I question how many of those signs were real or from Tea Party protesters.

Absolutely your right to do so .... :D

I don't doubt that there are photos out there on the 'net that purport to be "Tea Party" photos that have been 'shopped and are not what they appear to be ....

While I commented on the one I felt was dubious (guy with the beard in sunglasses), I'm not so sure that any of the others were anything but legit ....

After listening to, and observing some, here on EO, who it appears would likely be Tea Party supporters, any number of those signs wouldn't at all be a stretch methinks.

Clearly you've never heard of "street theater" (that would be the photo on the right .....
"Street theater" - yeah right! I guess cr*pping on the police cars and desecrating the American Flag is also what you would consider "street theater" - but no doubt that kind of stuff sends a tingle up your leg. Anyone who bothers to check out the link or most any news source will see exactly what these parasites are promoting: govt jobs for everyone, free health care, and other elements of European socialism that are working so well for Greece right about now.

Tea Party vs Occupy Wall Street in pictures | toddkinsey.com

The point that obviously sailed over your head is that the Tea Party and Occupy Wall St. movements are directed by totally different people and philosophies: an organized group who wants to take care of themselves with minimal govt. interference vs. a disorganized, random group who wants the govt to take care of them no matter what the cost. It's obvious which group your sympathies align with, and that's fine; but your lame efforts to trash the Tea Party don't have the slightest influence in making the Wall St. bunch look like mainstream Americans.

Well, actually I was referring quite specifically to the exact picture you posted - a fact that apparently sailed right over your head, because you - as per usual - are now trying to extrapolate that comment and observation into an endorsement of various other unrelated things - typical of your "I-must-invent-and-use-a-strawman-because-I-am-completely-unable-to-address-the-substance-of-what-was-posted" responses ....

Certainly some of them are .... but not all:

OWS Protestor Says No More Soros, Elect Ron Paul and End The FED

CptnMidnite Responds To Glenn Beck

You will no doubt poo-poo this individual's efforts .... but the fact is, it is a battle for the minds of many .... who realize that something is very wrong, but maybe can't figure out exactly what it is .... or what the real solutions really ought to be ....

He's doing something about it .... talking ideas ..... making a case ....

You .... well ..... not so much ..... you're too busy trying to vilify ..... rather than observe the entirety of the situation.

Calling any of these people parasites serves no real purpose - other than making yourself, and similar like-minded individuals, feel good about yourselves. Hey - if that what it takes for ya to feel good, then by all means ........ have at it .....

What they need is info - the correct info - and workable solutions.

And that's no different than any of us.

The point that obviously sailed over your head is that the Tea Party and Occupy Wall St. movements are directed by totally different people and philosophies: an organized group who wants to take care of themselves with minimal govt. interference vs. a disorganized, random group who wants the govt to take care of them no matter what the cost.
Actually, that is the point that sailing right over your head: each individual in either movement is a totally different individual.

Different goals, different purposes, different personal situations ..... sometimes those goal and purposes dovetail with other individuals, other times not so much.

And of course, your first inclination is to dumb it down ..... and attempt to make everyone in either movement the same as everyone else ....

Newsflash: that ain't the case for either movement.

You know, it really tells me something about an individual when their first inclination is not to observe the differences, but instead try to assert that "everyone is the same" ....

It's obvious which group your sympathies align with ....
Is it really ?

Well Carnack, my advice to you would be to stay off the roadway ..... and away from the railroad tracks - because it's clear you'd be placing yourself in great mortal peril of being mowed down ...... due to your own self-imposed blindness ...

Your "divinations" are - also as per usual - utterly frickin' clueless ....

I've edited campaign video of Pat Toomey, Dylan Glenn, Ric Keller, Mark Nielsen, Scott Garrett, Denny Rehberg, Mike Rogers, Jeff Flake (US rep, running for Senate in '12) , and Paul Ryan (currently chair of the House Budget Committee) as candidates to name a few .... (Google those guys and see if you can figure out what they're all about)

Of Billy Tauzin and Dick Armey on The Scrap The Code Tour: Armey-Tauzin Debate ....

I've done work for the Club For Growth, National Taxpayers Union, the Fair Tax guys ...... and probably one or two other groups you might have heard of ....

Here's a picture for ya Clueless - a Tea Party held back in 1997:

teaparty1.jpg

If you look closely you'll see my former business partner in front of (to the left) the forward mast videotaping the event. I edited video of that as well ....

None of the above for monetary gain, but simply to support what I considered to be good people and worthwhile causes ..... all of it, likely prior to, anything like "tea party" being a faint tingle up your limp leg was even a passing thought ...

BTW, that tea party pic is from Sen. Mike Crapo's Senate website ..... a real left-winger to be sure ....

and that's fine; but your lame efforts to trash the Tea Party don't have the slightest influence in making the Wall St. bunch look like mainstream Americans.
I'm making no effort to trash the Tea Party ..... in fact, what I am doing is the exact opposite of what you are doing:

You are trying to trash someone or something.

I'm merely making the observation and pointing out that to trying to pigeon hole (yet another fallacy that you frequently practice) all of the individuals in either of these movements into some sort of monolithic entity, all of whom have exactly the same goals and purposes is just completely retarded.

Of course, that wouldn't matter to someone (you) who has as their purpose and sole goal, propaganda .... rather than an intelligent discussion ...... anything, by any means, for the cause, of course ....

Take a real close look at some one the people in the videos I posted - they are not all freaks and whackos - they are everyday Americans.

The tendency to dismiss anything and everything the 'other side' says is a large part of how we got to this point, and we're not going to work it out until the kneejerk rejection can be put aside. The OWS protests are denigrated as lacking focus and leadership - but if those were present, they'd be denigrated as puppets [or dupes] of those who financed it.
What I'm seeing is a LOT of regular, everyday American citizens who are just fed up with the greed that has caused so much bad news for America. It isn't 'jealousy' or 'class warfare', it's the exact same kind of simmering anger at those leaders [political and corporate] who are never satisfied with 'enough' profit - just have to have more, more, more. While we were busy working, raising our families, occupying ourselves with being parents and neighbors, the ruling class was occupying themselves with enriching themselves - and now, there's almost nothing left for them to take anymore - we're tapped out, and so is the government we pay for.
If the concept of fair is socialist, then America was founded on socialist principles, because the writers of the Constitution put their blood, sweat, and tears into making it FAIR: no one gets to cheat or abuse or harm anyone simply because they can.

We had one of those "Wall Street" dudes in our truck last week. Mildly pleasant, not much life experience. We asked him what he and his wife were protesting. The answer, predictable, "Corporate Greed". Asked him what that meant, no answer. Asked him what is plan was if "Wall Street" went away, no idea, just make it go away. was his answer. Asked him if he had a better system in mind than what we have, NOPE. No idea.

None of that surprised me. It is what I expected. If you don't have a possible solution, shut up and try to learn something. I cannot imagine a man in his 30's, with children, being that blank.
He had NO real idea what he was against, or why. He had NO idea how to fix it. He had NO idea what he would want instead of what we have. Pretty sad for a man of his age and education level.

OK - had to go put on the high rubber boots and get the pitchfork to wade through all this el toro poopoo. One only has to go right back and read the posts to see what they say and see what's displayed; going to the link to see the entire collection of pictures to understand the context helps also. My post was really this simple: The demonstrations by these Occupy Wall Streeters as displayed in these pictures were held to bash capitalism and promote socialism - one only has to read the signs. To dismiss this stuff as "street theater" is simply laughable. The types of individuals participating in these demonstrations are highly likely to left wing radicals that espouse these values - polar opposites of the Tea Partiers. YOU are the one interpreting what I posted into something totally different. You do this to my posts and those of others all the time, laced with the usual inflammatory rhetoric because all you're trying to do is set up a personal "smackdown", as opposed to engaging in reasonable debate and the exchange of ideas. You refute nothing, cast aspersions on others' intelligence by offering the shopworn proposition that anyone who disagrees with you is "clueless" or "retarded". But if that's the only arrow in your quiver, so be it.
Calling any of these people parasites serves no real purpose - other than making yourself, and similar like-minded individuals, feel good about yourselves. Hey - if that what it takes for ya to feel good, then by all means ........ have at it .....
Here again - read the signs. They're promoting socialism, they claim a job is a right, they want free health care. And yes - I called them parasites.
Actually, that is the point that sailing right over your head: each individual in either movement is a totally different individual.
With different fingerprints I'll bet - what an astounding observation!
Here's a newsflash for you: people that attend these mass demonstrations usually do it because it has been organized for a common purpose - that's the whole point. If that's not why they're there, then it's probably for the sex, drugs and rock n roll, not to demonstrate their individualism while mingling in a mob of hundreds or thousands.
My "divinations" come from statements you've made more than once on this site that seem to express a personal fascination with relieving oneself on the American Flag or the gravesites of our soldiers killed during service to our country. I'm sure Pat, Dick, Paul, Jeff and the rest of your ole pals would be highly impressed with your musings .
I'm making no effort to trash the Tea Party .....
Sorry Bud - that's EXACTLY what you were doing with those random pictures from who-knows-where, along with the snarky comments. It strikes me as rather strange that you would try to make such a denial when you've just posted the exact opposite. Hopefully, you're not subject to random drug testing.
I'm merely making the observation and pointing out that to trying to pigeon hole (yet another fallacy that you frequently practice) all of the individuals in either of these movements into some sort of monolithic entity, all of whom have exactly the same goals and purposes is just completely retarded.
Not hardly (there's that "retarded" term again). What I'm saying is that they've assembled to demonstrate for a common purpose - a protest against capitalism and to promote socialism. Again - READ THEIR SIGNS.

The bottom line is that my post was about these particular individuals participating in the events being photographed. Bringing in a bunch of tangential, irrelevant gobbledygook serves no purpose other than to shift the subject of the discussion. It's called "staying focused" on the subject matter.

I think you missed the point, Pilgrim. The photos were hand picked to portray a specific agenda - one that isn't necessarily representative of the whole [aka selective editing.] Both 'sides' can do it, and keep doing it, ad nauseum, but it doesn't prove anything, or advance any understanding.
And as far as the protesters being radical left wingers, that isn't what I read - they are mostly middle of the road people of both parties [the protest is specifically neither Democrat or Republican, left or right] and that's WHY they refer to themselves as the 99%.
They don't advocate socialism, just a system that isn't rigged in favor of the 1% [wealthiest], and an end to the condoning of greed that has left us in the sorry state we're in relative to unemployment and government's financial crises.
