Just out of curiosity and all do respect, who do you think is a voice of reason out there in the media world?
Ed Murrow.
Outside of that, no one.
He said something that is really important - "During the daily peak viewing periods, television in the main insulates us from the realities of the world in which we live. If this state of affairs continues, we may alter an advertising slogan to read:
Look now, pay later."
Everyone has an agenda which has nothing to do with the actual news, most think they are changing the world (a worthy but not noble cause) while others are in it for the money and fame. I like the fame part, seeing that we make stars out of these people but they never learned the lessons from Walter Winchell who faded into obscrity and as Larry King said "He was so sad. You know what Winchell was doing at the end? Typing out mimeographed sheets with his column, handing them out on the corner. That's how sad he got. When he died, only one person came to his funeral."
Williams didn't get fired for just this, there has been a few issues with him and NPR, just look around at their base and the foundation they operate on, it is a very liberal, very elitist group who they cater to, most of it is out of the mainstream American culture as we know it. More or less it is the FDR types (if you know much about history) who think they are better than the unwashed common man, you will get the idea.
