NPR Fires Juan Williams For Muslim Comment

Regardless where the funding comes from now, the purpose outlived and the balanced that it was trying to achieve never materialized. What has happened is that there seems to be more or less an elitist aire to the system, from CPB and NPR but also from those who protect it with no reservation.

The question should be if this is so successful, would the money be better spent in education programs directly to the people it was supposed to serve in the first place - the poor?

Wow....first Beck and now Rush....you keep this up and you just might learn something! :p

Oh Diesel.....*sigh* Like I have pointed out in the past, I listen to both Rush and Beck everyday. This should not be news for anyone. I know exactly what Rush and Beck are, charlatans.

NO FEDERAL money for education either. That again is not a function of the federal government under the Constitution. Again, just as in broadcasting, there is FAR too much of a chance for abuses. Like the Feds controlling content of lesson plans etc. That is NOT a good plan for a FREE country.

Education should be controlled and funded at the local level and NEVER above the State level.

Two thoughts come to mind....why would you want to raise a conservative talk show host's ratings......AND......you must be napping during these daily shows as it doesn't appear to some here that you've absorbed very much......oh wait, I get it.....constantly searching for more "material", yeah, that's it!:p

Nope, and don't intend to. I just can't justify spending 6 hours a day listening to what I believe to be hopeless drivel as would be the case if I were to attempt to listen to any liberal for even half of that time.

Here's the thing, It is entertainment for me. What is even more entertaining is watching people defend the likes of Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, O'reilly and others on Fox News.

Maybe watching you BASH the likes of those who defend those you mention is entertaining to some in here? I mean, after all, it is kind of funny in a very strange sort of way.

Whatever floats your boat I guess but it sounds a little like instigating argument for argument's sake....sadistic maybe.

Another example of free speech not being "free" for all of us. If your speech lines up with that of the left then you're safe, if not.......there's a PRICE TO BE PAID.

I'm not Juan's biggest fan but this is over the top....the man made an honest comment about his feelings of discomfort when flying with Muslims on board the aircraft.

How did we ever get to the point where the taxpayer is funding NPR and it's so far to the left that they won't tolerate something like this?

The problem I have, is not flying with Muslims ON the airplane....it's with Muslims FLYING the airplane. A few years ago while trying to get out of Meca to Rihad there truly was a raghead at the left stick on a Saudia flight. I could not, DID NOT get on that flight.....jes sumpin about trading a camel for a pilot certification that didn't set well.

Gotta love ya Col! ;)

Here's my penny in the pond...when I listen to the news or talk radio, if it makes sense to me then that's what I go with. I have tried over and over to listen to the "liberal" side....it makes NO SENSE to me! If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck....it's a DUCK!

ok......I'll meet you half way. You seem to bash anything that is from the right. I'm ok with that. It just begs the question of who do YOU think is the voice of reason? Be careful in how you answer.

Must be trying to be "Fair and Balanced" :p Foolish Fox is only SLIGHTLY better than the rest of the liberal press. They are HARDLY conservative. They just hide the "liberal side" better.

They, just as the rest, are ONLY about ratings. There are no "real news" outlets on every day broadcast television.

In the media? Are you serious? None of 'em.

I was flipping around the channels and caught Parker-Spitzer on CNN last night and they have a segment called "Name Your Cuts". This was the first time I've watched the show and I have to tell you I enjoyed watching Grover Norquist explain how he would balance the budget and the respectful exchange of ideas that went back and forth between him and the hosts. I will be going online to watch those segments of the show where their guests talk about where they would make cuts. I recommend checking it out.

Just out of curiosity and all do respect, who do you think is a voice of reason out there in the media world?

Ed Murrow.

Outside of that, no one.

He said something that is really important - "During the daily peak viewing periods, television in the main insulates us from the realities of the world in which we live. If this state of affairs continues, we may alter an advertising slogan to read: Look now, pay later."

Everyone has an agenda which has nothing to do with the actual news, most think they are changing the world (a worthy but not noble cause) while others are in it for the money and fame. I like the fame part, seeing that we make stars out of these people but they never learned the lessons from Walter Winchell who faded into obscrity and as Larry King said "He was so sad. You know what Winchell was doing at the end? Typing out mimeographed sheets with his column, handing them out on the corner. That's how sad he got. When he died, only one person came to his funeral."

Williams didn't get fired for just this, there has been a few issues with him and NPR, just look around at their base and the foundation they operate on, it is a very liberal, very elitist group who they cater to, most of it is out of the mainstream American culture as we know it. More or less it is the FDR types (if you know much about history) who think they are better than the unwashed common man, you will get the idea.
