Mass shooting in Colorado theater

The question becomes how do we as a nation do a better job of identifying a person intent on committing mass killings. I don't know the answer, but am pretty sure it rests upon a serious amount of profiling and discrimination.

So many of these mass killings have commonalities. The shooters are typically young males, loners without a wife/girlfriend or children. Disconnected from their own parents and siblings. Social misfits who deal with some level of rejection in their personal lives. Frustrated. Isolated. Seething with rage for some perceived injustice.

A long debate and review of current gun permitting practices will follow. Some might suggest we need to tighten access to guns for males under the age of 30, for example. Let gun ownership become a graduated process for young males. Exceptions could be made for those who have honorable military service.

Our nation is currently producing too many young males who are self-absorbed, self-centered time bombs waiting to explode when disappointment reaches their doorstep. These mass shootings are a modern phenomena. Perhaps parents have become too indulgent with socially maladjusted children. Either we find an effective method for identifying these future killers or exceedingly draconian gun laws are on the way.

There were not really any signs from this guy other than him being a loner. People probably didnt pay much attention to that either. He seemed like he had goals he was working at and was really a kid proving himself. Something/someone just caused him to snap.

Not sure if anyone said it or not but, what do you think the likelyhood this was put out by the Obomas? . Nothing like blaming somthing like this on the oposing team.
Lets think abbout this,...... Hmmmm, Oboma getting bad press from us that belive in the Constitution, the Oboma administration anti Constitution and anti capitalisim anti America. The villan named Baine just like the company Romnye is connected to. The shooter dressed as Baine, and the worse part a body count. I wont even mention what better timing. Every Good tyrant will stay incontroll by using force, intimidation, fear, and violence when the popularity dosent get it done. I worked verry well for Stahlin, Sadam hussein, and manny manny manny others throughout history. Remember 911? Our Constitution went into the shreader the same day.

Then you should vote him in again since he used mind control in '93 to have writers add him to Batman comics.

Our Constitution went into the shredder LONG before 9/11. You have to go back to AT LEAST Lincoln to see when the shredding began. Lincoln was every bit as bad on the on Constitution as Barry is.

Sounds like you are describing a large part of the Occupy Wallstreeters

When 'maybe' is all you know, it'd definitely be wiser to wait for some facts before assigning blame and motive.
Another sad day for a lot of Americans, and I can't help but wonder if the tremendous publicity given such incidents only makes it worse.

Yes it dose...
Its called social engineering will and worse yet it desensitizes the masses to the horror and also gives support to those who desire to stri our rights.

Social engineering? You need to broaden your horizons: those right wingers are misinforming you [and you're letting them.] No one is trying to change our attitudes to be more tolerant of such killing, ok?
It's corporate irresponsibility, using sensationalism to 'sell' their papers & broadcasts. Nearly all the major news outlets belong to just a few large corporations, which makes the news pretty uniform these days - only the op-ed viewpoints differ.
Desensitizing? Nowhere near it, if the horrified reactions of most people are genuine, and I believe they are. What does desentitize people to violence is exposure in a form that makes it appealing, such as movies and videogames. Which have been getting ever more violent for years now, and guess who their 'target' audience would be? That's right: young males.
It's rather interesting to me that Switzerland has one of the highest rates of gun ownership in the world [all males are issued one for required civil service] and yet gun violence is rare - their politicians don't even bother with protection!!!
Of course, the Swiss have a different culture, where defense is taught and viewed as a 'collective responsibility', which is an attitude so many Americans see as 'socialist'
. The writers of the Constitution saw it as the best defense against tyranny, and I agree with them.

The idea that defense and security is a shared responsibility is not a socialist idea.
It is an idea based on the responsibility of each individual to assist in defense of the Nation. Socialism is based on the idea that no one is responsible for themselves and the state will provide what THEY feel the masses need. The goverment controls much of the required services.

The Militia Act of 1792 required that all white, able-bodied males, between the ages of 18-45 be armed and have supplies for those arms. Those arms were to be kept in the homes of those who owned them.

Much of the problem in this country is a lack of parental involvement in their children's lives. Far too many young boys are raised without the benefit of an adult male influence. Far too many parents are parents only in the "noun" sense of the word, which is the least important form. The "verb" parent is the most important form of parent. It is NOT a part time job. As the family continues to break down these things will continue to happen. Contrary to popular belief, fathers are not only there to provide money. The 'verb' type fathers are needed to raise their sons.

If we are to blame it on the news media, are you saying the majority can't think for themselves?

What I mean by social enginering is, the media gives a topic undivided attention and continuous coverage untill the act looses its sting.
Example 1 we hear of a terrorist homicide bomber in the middle east, a hijacking, etc. The first time somone sees it on the news its shocking, then it becomes I saw it coming, then it will become a nusance they actualy report it eventualy it has less effect than the weather report.

Example 2 Lets also look at the fact that the media and thier glut for ratings wont stop with the propaganda untill it happens a couple more times. And all it takes is fore some class A looser who is so hungry for recognition to say "Hey I can finaly be on TV and everybody will know me." The media loves that. More ratings.
Yes, video games, movies, T.V., and most entertainment as well as the propaganda machine all with violent to some extent has the potential to set the right person off. CNN, FOX, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, BBC, whoever take your pick. Same crap diferent channel

But as I posted earlier this is strait out of the Oboma camp. A tool of intimidation, and defamation see my earlier post. Like it or not Ill call it like I see it.

Read betwene the lines.

You should broaden your horizons as well, you are being misinformed by the left and you are letting them. It is not the "right wingers" claiming this was a government conspiracy, it is people like Alex Jones.
