Mass shooting in Colorado theater

As Turtle says, some things just defy reason - parents killing their own children, for example. And as Pilgrim says, the over the top media barrage of breathless details may be part of what the perpetrator was intending to get out of it. We can't stop the acts, but we could stop the selling of the sensational - if the corporate media would quit giving us what we want. [Like a new photo of the same actors & 'celebrities' as yesterday, right?]

A news report I saw tonite reported the shooter set off very loud music in his apartment 30 mins prior to his attack.
The plan is that if someone opened the apartment door there would be explosions.
He figured all nearby LEOs would go there and few would be anywhere near the theatre.
Lots of preplanning went into this.
Very sick.

Don't mean this as it sounds ,you watch he'll plead insanity at the moment.

What needs to be done in these situations is to let the victims families do the same thing to the accused ,"no questions asked".Sorry but thats the way I feel on these situations.

Jayson: logistics aside [which victims' family gets first crack?] all that would accomplish is to ensure that the perp commits suicide as his [so far, it's always a male] grand finale - which half of them planned to do anyhow.

There is no thought process that people use to come to the conclusion that we need to ban assault weapons. People are simply having an emotional reaction and deciding that this is what we need to do without actually thinking. If he had killed all these people with a shotgun, rifle, or handgun they would still be dead. Would you feel better if instead of using an assault rifle he started tossing pipe bombs around and killed 50 people? Does the fact that someone was killed with a weapon that wasn't an assault rifle lessen the pain for the victims family?

Now now.....I am claiming the right to free expression and speech now....LOL

I say give everyone a gun to carry around and people will think twice before doin something dumb...That'll never happen sooooo....Gun control or limiting ammunition isn't the answer its all about protecting yourself...P.S. civilian sold assault rifles only come in semi auto forms meaning 1 trigger pull = 1 bullet flying...So assault rifels unless illegally modified are no more dangerous than your. 40 Cal. Handgun... Remember people kill people guns don't do anything unless they're loaded, pointed and fired by a human!!!

The need is there simply because we shouldn't allow the government to impose any more restrictions on our rights guaranteed to us. Do you have ONE piece of proof that banning assault weapons would be saving lives?

You have the right to bear arms. Not the right to bare ANY and ALL arms. What do you want next, personal missles ? How about a hand held nuke ?
How does the homicide rate compare between the us and countries with stricter gun laws ?
