thing is shorties "generally " pay better then uber long ones..BUT on flat rate akkshole will never see that...
Not this time, shorties pay $150, w deadhead etc was $181 and I got an extra $100 out of them, plus now am an hour into detention pay of about $35 an hour

So $281 plus $35 as of 9:15 am for a 60 mile dh and 122 miles loaded.

Major reason I switched to carriers that ask me for price, not feed me 4 shorties per week at "industry rates".

Generally they do pay more, you just need 7-8 in a week to make it worth wile, or get a whale of a run at the weekend.

so in my mind that $35 just paid your 60 miles jog....NOW as VSprinter related IF thats IF you were to get that off real quick you have plenty of time for a 2nd load today...IF and again with the IF....you are lucky...

I do shorties by choice these days...and try to be set up like today for the whale...or dang close...but I am pretty sure my budget is a wee bit smaller then most...

its neat to see different points of opinion, but generally we all meet at the bottom...or the same spot....we have to meet our individual needs....

"IF" is the key word.
Happens, but sometimes it turns into late pick up, traffic along they way, next day delivery.
But, there is a reason sometimes to take it.

yeah like if its slow and there is a ton of your own vans around and dispatch picks you to be the local UPS guy.....but hey what do you lose?...you weren't going to get that whale today anyways because of all those ahead of you, and you banked a few hundred bucks that some just let pass them by....

The other advantage is after I deliver, if I don't get another I am 70 miles from the house. Doesn't pay as well but costs less than being on the road...definitely in the mood for a whale...800+ miles would be very much welcome but not holding my breath.

"whale" in my book is anything over 1200 miles. Anything under is a day work.
But then again, I am too young to think of rest.

Trust me id love to be running those 1200+ mile runs...1000 per day is feasible in my book but at our contracted rate they either go to xpo teams or low balled by other carriers
