Location location .... etc....

OK folks... this issue got blown up WAYYYYYYYYYYY friggin bigger than it needed to be.. LOL. So, in the interest of trying to satisfy EVERYBODY while getting yelled at from all sides... here's what we'll do.


For those who wish to only post a location and leave it at that... we will post a MONTHLY location thread in the Layover Lounge.

For a more manageable 'Freeform" (banter) type of thread, we will have a WEEKLY location thread in the main forum. That should be more manageable.

Participate in whichever one or both you want... I obviously could care less... I just try not to get yelled at too bad LOL... and obviously many people like each kind...we got emails, and requests and imputs on both sides... all passionate . so hopefully this will work.

Why not just have one location thread, no month, no date sensitive, no nothing - plain simple and easy. If people read my how to read the latest post thing, then it makes it really easy for them to peruse the thread and find their friends.

Because SEVERAL people requested the simple thread.. and SEVERAL spoke up in support of the way it is. It's my job to be in the middle, and the mods to try to insure it works LOL... we'll try it this way, and see if people really use the other thread.

If not, I think the weekly will be more manageable, as again.. SEVERAL spoke up in support of... always tryin to flex along with the flow, while still keepin the idea.

IMHO this is all just stupid. We had one location thread that worked fine for the majority before. Now because the few did not find it's parameters perfectly suited to them we need 99 different threads to accomplish what one did before. Said it before and will say it again the complaint was supposedly it took to much time to wade through the idol chit chat. How do we solve that problem, by creating multiple threads to do what one did before. Time saver? I don't think so.

Ateam... I care how the forum goes, I DON'T care about which one people post in... I usually don't post my exact location, therefore.. it doesn't affect me one way or the other... however, it is my JOB to try to satisfy as many people as POSSIBLE.. while maintaining the best interests of the forums.

I will post a simple monthly location thread in the Layover lounge to see if anyone actually uses it. I will try it for a month or two and see how it goes.

Joe volunteered to post the weekly thread each Sunday.. so no, not any extra work. Just hopefully a relatively simple solution. A compromise, of sorts, we'll see how it works.

If no one likes it, heck don't post a location LOL.

Leo simply tried to do what folks asked him... but obviously, you can't satisfy all the people all the time.. etc... without someone getting mad. Better me making the decision, than the mods getting yelled at for trying to do what they thought was the right thing.

Yup, I just made a decision to try it, we'll see what happens. If it doesn't no biggie. back to normal

This has been bugging me and I am just going to lay it on the table. I have my sincere doubts that a "number" of people wrote one mod about one thread having to much banter. One or even two I can buy, more than that is a hard pill to swallow. I think one mods feelings on the subject had much more to do with all of this than the number of people who approached them on the subject. Now to follow everyone we might want to follow we need to post and read two threads rather than one. I have to believe if a certain mods personal feelings were left out of the equation nothing would have changed.

I think we have to recognize that the mods and the admins work as a team. Whether or not ANY members complained doesn't mean anything to me. I don't think you're going to find the admins here going against suggestions and experiments (within reason) of their mods, that would be pretty heavy handed and who would want to volunteer their time and effort to something like that?

As Diva said.. it is very rare that such a change is made without some discussion.

Just to throw something in here and it is not a bash of Leo or to prolong the agony, but when you have one person and only one person trying to make a point by creating the thread, then it appears to be that person is actually doing it without any support from you or anyone else - if I said that right?

If Leo didn't delete our posts, but you did or another mod did, it would not have been a big deal to any of us. If Leo didn't make a big deal and wasn't so defensive, then it would not have been a big deal and it would have been left alone. It looked like he took it personal as if to say this was "My Idea ... too bad" - hence the LDB Feedback thread that was created to ask the question was it right in the first place. Many of us wonder what the big deal was, and some of us think it was more important to tackle other issues instead. Again not bashing him at all but many of us seem to be looking at this not as if there was any complaining but rather only his doing out of frustration.

Greg, I understand. Yes, the deletions were done because you and others seemingly made a point to try and over ride the decision. Since Leo did indeed agree with the idea, and felt strongly about it, he did make the original thread, but it was discussed in the Mod forum...in fact a couple different times... starting about a month ago it was brought up...

I was away for a couple days, dealing with some personal items, and Leo did what he thought was best at the time. I understand and support his efforts, but perhaps it could have been presented better.

Remember, not everyone is as diplomatic and downright awesome as me!

Hopefully everyone understands now, and we can move on.

Understood.

Believe me, most here know, including Greg, Turtle, OVM, etc.. I have MUCH more respect for that, than some who are all roses and wine to your face, then sneaky sneaky they slip their shots in, or come creeping in a back door!
