OVM, you don't what I mean? C'mon, really? If you cut out the idle chit-chat type of stuff from your count, I wonder what the number would be? We all do it a bit, of course. But, when taken to extremes it bogs down a thread. I think threads should be treated as a normal conversation, if goes off a tangent so be it. But, it can get out of hand when it becomes an idle, one way conversation.

It doesn't really bother me, have at it. But, clearly, there are those that are really bothered by it.

Idle chit-chat? I'd describe it more as Instant Messaging sent via Web Forum. It's ICQ, AIM, GoogleTalk, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Skype, Facebook, whatever IM you like. It's certainly not fit for a public Web forum. Everything you post to a Web forum is, or should be, for the enjoyment or benefit of untold thousands of readers, both now and in the future. It's not all that different from moving a private conversation that nobody wants to hear from channel 19 to some other channel. Not pointing a finger at anyone in particular, as everybody does it now and again, but it should be the exception rather than the rule.

Which is the same thing I said, long ago, but the few who indulge in the 'chatter', [which is what prompted my changed sigline, BTW], either don't see or don't care how their personal chats [or quest for meaningless post count] take the interest level of a thread down to the bottom. Repeatedly.
And when enough folks ask the mods to try to do something about it, those same folks [plus some who don't like Leo, or just don't like the way Leo explained it] promptly make every effort to sabotage the 'experiment'.

If this were my first exposure to EO, I'd write it off as a site dominated by a group of childish 'men', like the ones who have pretty much ruined the CB for the rest of us.
We used to be way better than this.

Yep...I can personally vouch for my hubby...he does talk a bit!

Most guys don't talk that much, us talkative ones are the good ones

Oh yea it was an effort of sabotage, IT WASN'T. It was voicing an objection to something that seemed to be asinine to a few of us, and as usual the posts were deleted to make everyone happy.

What's wrong with you guys, you can not create a thread and actually try to keep it going?

I pointed out to Dale in the open for all you can read what seemed to be the problem for me that was Leo was doing a bit too much by deleting posts, and being so defensive. If Layout, or some other mod stepped in and deleted OR JUST SPOKE UP then it would have been dropped but Leo seemed to be the only one doing this.

Childish? By no means was it. What was, was the reaction of some who ignored what a few of us were saying, I think Dale got it.

By the way, Leo is another great guy here, I have nothing personal against him.
