John, why cross dock the freight, don't you have enough willing to go to Canada?

How about regular cross border work for someone with a box van or a small straight?

Honestly, no we don't have enough that are willing or able to cross the border. To answer the second question I think so.

Want to say Hi and Thanks John! The 1st week with Load was was as good as could be expected and great on the pay scale. Looking forward to a long business relationship as well as devoloping new friendships...from what i have been involved with so far..This is a Top Shelf organization.

So with TJP, OVM, now Me here, you should be able to cover the country without any slack or missed load opportunites!! Good to be here!!!

Hey John, hook me up with a good owner that's looking for a good driver for a str truck! Gonna run single this time with 'mama' as a rider. She said "No more driving for her"......lol She wants to sit back & enjoy the scenery for awhile.
Is refreshing to FINALLY have a company out there that works with the drivers for all to succeed..............:)

Thanks Suds! Give Brian a call at our place and we can see what we can do. I don't think we actually have any open units right now. But I know he gets calls with owners looking to sign on that need drivers.

Traitor! How dare you! Well I guess I'll have to man the fort over here at Bolt for a while now that Chef is gone. I may be looking into other options mysef if these short runs continue.

There is no reason to get sent up into caro Michigan on a friday afternoon when there are plenty of weekend loads out there to run.

But unlike my man Chef, I will be trading in my decals for no decals and going back on the rogue side of this business.

Just a plain white cargo van with Michigan plates a rolling through town in the middle of the night.

That's good TJP, but what is your average rate per mile on loaded miles? Not with any assessorial pay or deadhead pay included. What is your true average rate per loaded mile? Inquiring minds want to know!

Bolt was good to me and while it sounds crazy, that is one of the reasons I left when I did...I didn't want the issues that made me leave become so big that I started bad mouthing them. It was not anyone thing, but the buildup of 2.5 yrs of little things with the really big increase in short runs and a big addition of CV's / Sprinter that finally pushed me over the edge.

I took the week off to sit and talk to my wife and just look at it clearly while not taking those short runs back to back 1 a day and we figured instead of getting to the point of really being mad and upset with them, it was just time to move on. So with TJP in the sprinter up there and I have alot of respect for John Elliott for the kind of posting he does here and how he runs his business, it was just natural for me to go there,

As for Bolt, i'd tell a newbie to go there in a heartbeat, they will learn the business and make some money at the same time. Id have no problem referring anyone thats been in the business there as long as they fit Bolts business plan..It was just time for me to go as both Bolt and myself are now looking at the business from different points of view....

As of right now I am averaging $1.01 a loaded mile with just under 13% DH and $.89 CPM all miles...All I can say is MONEY is not an issue here at Load-1 :D An by the way they aren't hiring anymore cargo vans or sprinters only straights...

Another great feature about Load-1. They do not just keep taking on units. They match their work load to the amount of units needed. Works out great for everyone involved.

All I can say about Load 1 is I just had the best month I have had in 7 years of Expediting..this is the second company I have leased to in the 7 years and will be the last..been home 5 weeks in a row on a load...what more can you say..the staff from the top to the bottom are the best!! I am sitting at home as I write this with a 884 miler del on monday....glad I made the move...

To all you newbies coming on here at L-1, well I have been here since the first of the year, so still a newbie myself actually. But, I will tell you this - it has been steady all year long for me (straight truck).
Of all the places I have worked at and I am not putting any of them down, L-1 has been the best for me. If you like it now coming on board, take my word, while a good first impression is common in this business, Load One keeps it up 24/7!
And I really want to push this point - if you are sent to a place which may have been a bad area for your former carrier, that does not mean it is a bad place for Load One. I learned that the first week I was here and they sent me to Hartford, CT. And darn me, they got me rolling four hours after I dropped.........
And oh yea, that open door policy that you think you have here....well, I have news for you - it really does continue 24/7......
Now, the only other thing I would suggest is when truck 384 is parked beside you there is an unwritten rule you MUST TURN DOWN ALL LOADS over 300 miles where he gets them.

Well done Chef...well said...as in all aspects of life ...things change..nothing stays the same....

We did what was necessary for US....We put OUR needs FIRST....just as a carrier also does....and I am quite sure that John and Load-1 in the future will make some decisions that may not be to our liking but necessary for Load-1 to sustain growth and profit margins...after all it is just business....that said

3 weeks down....everything fits well...as days pass, my decision to move has proved beneficial to me...and Load-1..:D
