I'll clarify right now...You get 50 layover the first 24 hours and the second 24 hours...After that no dice...Also no layover for anyone within 200 miles of their house...That is the way it is buddy...Only 2 days consecutive per occurance...:D

Once a driver is in available status for over 24 hours, they qualify for layover. If you exceed 48 hours a second days layover kicks in.

Max 2 days.

Not within 200 miles of home domicile.

Not if loads are turned down.

Ken is hardly ever within 200 miles of his house, he lives in the sticks;)

Wombat's computer is down so he asked me to post this question for him. How does daylight savings time affect the hours of service? When the clock is turned back do you get another hour to work?

You need to start a new thread on this post so more people will answer the question..very interesting question....my answer would be no you do not get the extra hour to drive...on a side note, if you are at a bar you do get to drink for another hour!!

I would say no. Hours of service are not regulated by the clock as much as they are by how many consecutive hours you are working. But, I will double check in the am and find out for sure!

Gator, glad to hear it is coming together for you!

Ok, so Load 1 has been a good decision at this point and the load I just ran re-enforced that more for me.

Now some of you that have been around for a long time may not find this at all unusual, but in my 3 yrs, i have not had it done, heard of it being done or seen it done before...

2 Load 1 vans sitting at the same place for over 30 hrs...nothing unusual about that, there were 2 E-1 vans there also and we all see 3 or sometimes more Panther vans sitting in the same place...ad there was also another load 1 van there with less then 24 hours sitting...Well since i was #2 and had called to see if I might needed to move since the # 1 unit was still there and not moving, I wanted to get to an area further away to possibly get loaded. Dispatcher said he'd look around and call me back...well the call back was what i have never seen...they had a 6 skid S/T load that if we both agreed, they would split it up and get both of us rolling..we just had to pickup and deliver together...

We grabbed it, and ran the almost 400 loaded miles at close to a buck a mile...

Thanks Load 1...you continue to impress....

Small and nimble company, with cooperative drivers will win the race.

Splitting up a load is pretty standard in trucking, especially if no ST was around...and both drivers ( in your case ) agreed to the split. A great win/win for everybody...company as well as customer.

BUT...

What I find Impressive is that Load One is moving ST loads at close to $2.00 per mile to the truck.....that should open some eyes for ST's making $1.20 - $1.35 mile.

Nice

Well to be honest in these situations we will often times make very little or nothing. You keep the units moving, cover the customer and work on the next profitable load. If you want to truly succeed, you can not look at a p & l on every load. You have to focus in the big picture and the long tern.
