Little Hitlers on parade in Ohio

I know all about the Vietnam war and how veterans were treated. My point is he did the right thing by thanking him for his service, but instead used that power he had to light up the christmas tree to do the escort thing. And to the person who posted that I don't want you to take that personally, it isn't intended that way at all, but rather to comment on how some LEO's use (and possibly abuse) their powers.

It's called honoring and it is long over due. It is a far cry from when we were spit on in airports and public gatherings, not to mention how many of us were discriminated against for employment due to our service at that time.

That officer should be commenced for his actions, not condemned.

I doubt that you know ALL ABOUT what happened to vets of that era unless you are one. The history hardly accounts for all the garbage that went on. In fact, it does not account for it at all.

Let us not forget that other than "surface" stuff, today's vets are not much better off. Medical care for wounded or mentally affected vets is going down the tubes and will likely continue to do so.

That is what I was trying to point out....

That officer may have been one of those "spitters" in his youth and now has grown up...this was his little way to make up...we'll never know...

We will never know but it was a wonderful gesture. I do know that one of those "spitters" is now our Secretary of State.

Layout where did I condemn what he did? I simply stated that he did the right thing by thanking the veteran, but after that IMO he abused his power. Abusing it to do a "good" thing is still abuse.

No, you did not condemn the thanks, just the action after. It was not abuse of his "power" in my book. It was a show of respect, of honor and of gratitude. That is my opinion and I doubt that either of our opinions will ever change. I would love to meet that cop and thank HIM for what he did.

This just in...turns out the abusive cop in question, a former marine who confirms my contention that ex-military members have a tendency to view civilian life as a continuation of military life and see themselves as drill instructors and civilians as recruits, make horrible cops, has been the target of 16 IA probes in 11 years. That's not representative of actual claims of abuse or excessive force, which could number in the dozens or even hundreds. Many cops are speaking out against this roid-raging monster, saying they've been cops that long or longer and have never been the target of IA.

This monster must be fired immediately and then arrested, booked, tried, and imprisoned for his violent crimes. He should never be allowed to touch a firearm ever again under any circumstances. If he had a real job, he'd have been fired long ago, but because he has the weight of governmental backing, the citizens of Canton get to pay for his lengthy paid vacation.

This has to stop. Abolish all police departments immediately.

That's fine that you feel that way. You must also be a big proponent of minority hiring then to help right the wrongs of the past?

I am not going to argue with you on this. It is a total waste of time. I was there and affected by it, you were not. I was not hired because of my service you never faced it. I was spit on in Detroit Metro Airport, you were not. You were not even involved.

You are entitled to your beliefs. That is it.

And none of it pertains to what this cop did. Or should we pull them all off the streets to right those wrongs by turning them into rolling roadblocks?

Sorry guys, being a vet has nothing to do with it regardless how you want to spin it.

The Vietnam vets were not the only ones who got crapped on but the funny thing is that they got crapped on by other vets when they got home too.

The cop should be reprimanded for his actions, lights and sirens are to be used in only cases where it warrants it, this was not the case. If you want to know what happens when you play cop with lights on, look up what happened in Detroit in I think '91 and how the cops escorting a car ended up in a bad accident, killing two kids.

I'm with Monger, eliminate the local and state police, have elected officials running the place and accountability may return.

I know who we were crapped on by. It was not the smartest move to be sure. I won't condemn him for it. I would thank him.

So, in other words, it's ok to break the law if it's done in good taste?

I can't believe no one's posted yet about how stupid this cop is for doing this in front of the camera.

Yep, sure can. Some people just don't understand degrees.

Layout: "As said before, cops are individuals, there are good ones and bad ones."
But if one is on a power trip, and sticks you in jail for resisting arrest, just be ready for them to tell you his squad car's camera was turned off at the time.

Bobwg: "Good and bad in every profession..."
Yep... and a crooked cop's bullet in the brain can make for a very bad day. I'd say that's worse than a bad gardener screwing up your petunias. Wouldn't you?

Who cares imo, you'll be dead and nothing can ever hurt you again after that

Somewhere up above it is mentioned the camera's will be turned off, the audio will die, etc, etc,

Allow me to provide a different perspective here. Having a 34 year marriage to a 27 year veteran cop, this is happening because of poor supervision.

1. Her cam comes on when the lights are activated, and can not be turned off until she turns the lights off.

2. Her cam comes on at speeds in excess of 85mph, and there is nothing she can do about it, except answer to the chief.

3. When she makes a traffic stop, she is required to enter the information prior to the stop, (or at least before exiting her cruiser), and if the registered owner has a CCW, it will be displayed BEFORE the stop.

4. Her first action is to ALWAYS address the driver of the vehicle first and foremost.

5. She is less concerned about a valid CCW permit holder than someone who does not bother to acquire one.

So, it would seem this officer did nothing according to protocol. My wife is not pleased to be shown this video, it reflects poorly on her and her departmant. Same as rouge trucker reflects badly on all of us.

One bad apple does not mean the entire LEO community is bad.

I would suggest the community have a virtual lynching party and remove the chief of police of that department first, then cull the officers.

Yeah but what do we know, just ask that cop and he can tell you we are just stupid human beings.
