I know all about the Vietnam war and how veterans were treated. My point is he did the right thing by thanking him for his service, but instead used that power he had to light up the christmas tree to do the escort thing. And to the person who posted that I don't want you to take that personally, it isn't intended that way at all, but rather to comment on how some LEO's use (and possibly abuse) their powers.
It's called honoring and it is long over due. It is a far cry from when we were spit on in airports and public gatherings, not to mention how many of us were discriminated against for employment due to our service at that time.
That officer should be commenced for his actions, not condemned.
I doubt that you know ALL ABOUT what happened to vets of that era unless you are one. The history hardly accounts for all the garbage that went on. In fact, it does not account for it at all.
Let us not forget that other than "surface" stuff, today's vets are not much better off. Medical care for wounded or mentally affected vets is going down the tubes and will likely continue to do so.
