Sorry OVM, this has happened in other places, like the house of commons.
The problem that many people seem to miss in the BS of the lack of "respect" for Obama or the office of the presidency, is the fact that here we all sit and let these guys decide what is right for us. It is not the houses job to pass judgment on him, it is his constituents job. It is not Carter's job to comment by calling this a racist move, it is Wilson's consiteunts job.
Right or wrong in the eyes of the race bating public, he did exactly what other should do. He was passionante enough to say what he said.
In our past, even in the last century, we have had men who would not budge, some even called the president worst names in public but they had the conviction to stick by an issue and not comprimise. But now look at how things are, you can't say a word against a sitting president even though the last one was ripped apart by the same member of congress who now call racism. Look at how the republican party handled this, they have no back bone to tell the world that Obama is wrong and they are going make sure by any means to show the people what is wrong.
We don't have people of honor or passion in government, we have opertunists and idiots but you know the really sad thing is the public is too stupid to see what is really going on, they are buying into the entire racist thing.
Sorry guys/gals, I draw the line of offering any respect for anyone who is talking life and death issues without passion or convictions. I don't care if it is the office of the presidency or the man in the office, if it is wrong, it is wrong and people have a right to be heard at every level and every event by any means - that is exactly what Wilson did, gave the people he represents a voice.

After eight years of pure Bush hatred and continuous vituperation from Dem. members Congress, this manufactured outrage from the Left is the height of hypocrisy. On top of that, they're now playing the race card in an attempt to add to the distraction so people might not notice that Obama actually WAS lying. The most ridiculous example of this hysteria is Maureen Dowd claiming what she heard from Wilson was "You lie Boy!" The sad thing is that some people take her delusions seriously, and her fantasy gets spread around to the point where it becomes a lie itself.

I agree. Obama was addressing the nation. This was not an open floor debate. His remark was lacking in class and decorum, even if it was true.
Let's see if I understand this. Obama IS a liar. He is LIKELY not being totally forthcoming on this issue either. Someone stands up and points out the fact that Obama IS a liar, and that guy is wrong? Since when is calling a horse a horse wrong? If Obama does not wish to be called a liar there is ONE way that is certain to insure that, he can just STOP LYING!!! That would be a FIRST for him to be sure, BUT, it is the ONLY way. Telling the truth will fix this for Obama. Want to bet on Obama ever telling the truth?

You are correct, that place WAS packed full of liars and most likely Obama WAS standing telling lies about the health care debate. Big deal. More reason to vote EVERY incumbent out. They ALL suck!! Obama IS a liar. In one way it was rather refreshing to hear at least one person tell the truth just ONCE in the "Den Of Liars". That MIGHT just be the FIRST time I ever heard a politition tell the truth.

Calling Obama a liar seems rather gentile in comparison dontchya think? C'mop--the guy apologized already. Asking him to apologize to the the rest of Congress is like asking a drunk that threw up in somebody's lap to apologize to everyody at the party.

So what is the behavior that is acceptable?
The venue has been used for worst, the event was not that important to have any joint session, it was a campaign style speech with the opulence that was created by the dems for the messiah.
So I ask what is a bigger break of decorum and "proper manners";
Having a member of the US congress compare US soldiers to Nazis.
Having a member of congress call the president out on a real lie.
I think making an uniformed comment about our soldiers in a session of congress outweighs anything that is said at the president during a frivolous session of congress. Dick Durbin, a democrat made the comparison of the US soldier to the Nazis, the Soviets and the Kumar Rouge in 2005 and he didn't receive any punishment in a republican congress. He should have been censored for his comments and removed from all committees as punishment but it wasn't important enough while this is.
How many of you who served under Johnson, Nixon and Carter remember what it was like to be demoralised?
How do you hold accountable a US senator for purposeful demoralizing of our troops?
How many of you feel that if Wilson's "slip" is that big of a deal, then should't you feel others like Harry Reid should be removed for thier comments about the president.
Taking it a step further, when some at Air America hosts were calling for Bush to be killed, where was the congress condeming those comments?

Wilson said what was on many minds. He was wrong in saying it the way he did. Even though I liked it, it showed disrespect to the title, I could care less about the man that holds the title for now.

But I heard what he said while seated during our Presidents speach. That's all I needed to make a decision of what type of individual he really is. Repub or Demo , it was WRONG, PERIOD !

News flash: JOE WILSON ALREADY APOLOGIZED. What else do people want. He realized his mistake , immediately apologized and should be end of story. Still waiting for Harry Reid's apology to Bush. There shouldn't be a double standard for dems.
By the way Obama was equally rude in his speech saying the opposition lied.
