Heading up that way at the end of the month. Going to a Ducks Unlimited leadership conference at Higgins Lake. Then I am going to do a little scouting for places to hunt deer and maybe get a couple of snowshoe rabbits at the same time.

That's a real good trip! I love stopping in at the religious retreat in Perryville. The grounds are beautiful.
LOL! I saw it. I need to find a place that even has ONE deer. I saw nothing this year. I have to find a new area altogether.
North Central Iowa....we have deer herds.....and they are Big & Healthy......
But I don't deer hunt anymore...just to crazy around here during Shotgun season

Most of the deer around here have died off after that nasty winter a couple years ago...but the antelope herds are plentiful! Oh and Mark..it's supposed to snow tonight so I'll try to push it your way as fast as I can...lol
I don't hunt in the "limited" zone. I hunt "up north", I use a Remington Custom 700, 30.06, with a Zeiss Conquest, 3X9X40MM scope.

I could Rope you a couple 12 point 200 lbs.. bucks.....during trapping season next year....they get too close sometimes....and I just carry my (bat) thumper with me
I would like to hunt out there some day. I have the "proper toys" for a "shotgun" area. We have a "limited" zone here. You can use shotguns/muzzle loaders or center fire rifles that are .35, or larger,with a straight walled case and maximum case length of 1.8".
