We are now sitting at JFK, killing time, way early as per normal. Pick up here about 1600 then off to Albany with it.

Yesterday driving through DC I heard the most awful screeching noise I have ever heard coming from under the hood of my beloved Sprinter. Pulled over like in the next second, shut it down and looked under the hood. I saw nothing out of ordinary, so I started it up and I heard this grinding noise at idle. Raised the rpm just a little and the grinding stopped. Then I saw the belt vibrating kinda funny.

I took the belt off and found out that the alternator is grinding like crazy when you turn it by hand. But it still charges good. No play in the shaft, so I put the belt back on and I was on my way to deliver my load. Makes me sooooo mad because I have a brand new alternator waiting for me at the house, only about 700 miles away. And I looked at the stinking box sitting in the garage when I left home and thought that it would be a good idea to take it with me, since this alternator has 315k miles on it and soon it will die. But I left it where it was. It seems like someone warned me and I chose to ignore it. And it only takes me about 30 min to put an alternator in.

Shoot. It is all Sprinter's fault. I should have bought a Ford or Chevy. LOL

I saw an E-1 pickup truck yesterday. It was an extra or double cab pick up with a tall camper shell on it. First expeditor pickup I have seen, good idea though:)

finishing up the slowest week i had in resent history ,
and i even had to chain-up along the way...
found out that the SS tires are sooo EZ to chain :)

now ,PU a load of anti-freeze here in long-beach , going to Montana ,
then a reload in Billings on Mon. going back down to Phoenix.
both loads are heavy up to gross .
so if any of you doing the I-15 corridor (also known as the Expediters Expressway) give me a buzz .
you know it's not an expediters loads , when your dispatcher tells you : 'all places open during normal business hours , let me know when you delivered in Phoenix...'

Ya all have a nice Week end .

I figured you'd say something like that!! Looked under the hood of a Sprinter for the first time the other day, was quite impressed at the room under there.Everything seemed easy to get to.
