In your opinion who are the 5 largest expedite carriers?

I have a hard time buying that one partner. Con-Way offered a $1000 to every contractor that signed on with Panther. No stipulations. Just sign on. You yourself said in another post that you would sleep on the floor for two nights if the price was right. Why not get in bed with a 2 headed cat?

Well partner that was the case. Living by both FedEx and Panther I got to see alot of trucks at both place's. FedEx even made two different class's each week to get people signed on. And yes I said I would sleep on the floor for a super run for some extra cash, but not for a lifetime either. There is a big difference between sleeping on the floor for a great load and taking $1000.00 and going to a company for $1.25 per mile too. Not saying that Panther is a bad company, their just not for me at this time.

"Over the half the Con Way trucks didnt go to Panther so the numbers add up."

Bruno, if you live there and you saw it, then I believe you! Must have been quite a sight, 200 vans and trucks rolling down your street. A Con-Way convoy.

I didn't have any facts or figures to back up my disbelief. I just thought that if the owners of less than 400 trucks were offered $1000 to commit to Panther that the refusal rate would have been less than over half. Way less! After all, like you said: "money talks."

My line about getting into bed with a 2 headed cat was meant to go along with your theme of sleeping on the floor for a couple of nights for extra money. In no way was it to be interpreted as a long term commitment or an endorsement of beastiality.

For me personally, I was notified of the sale and the $1000 offer that Saturday morning. I verbally accepted and I think also by QC. I told Con-Way I wanted a paper check rather than have the grand loaded to Comdata. The very next day I was in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area giving my canoe a much deserved paddling.

I was gone for 8 days. When I returned I found a check for $1000. Which I promptly cashed. So I got a paid vacation. I didn't haul my first Panther load until August 1, 2006. I could have quit before that first load and still had the grand. No lifetime commitment.

Speaking of lifetimes. Are you a reincarnation of someone who posted here a few years back? Your style and subject matter seem very familiar. I just can't place the original name.

you have all listed what you feel are the biggest expedite companies,of all these companies.
Which do the closets to 100% expedite freight?
Which of these companies can load their contractors with expedite freight, in both out bound and back haul situations, and not rely on a load boards with back haul, non expedite freight to keep their drivers happy?
It's not how big the company is,but how large their customer base is.
Just something to think about.

ok, i have to take corrective actions here. only because i hate to here when panther bought conway. lets get it rite if we are going to talk about it. conway sold to panther. sorry but just a ex con with fond memories. i could stand to be corrected but at the time of the sale conways fleet consisted of approx. 378 units in all . i believe, around 180 straights, 130 vans and the rest tractors. could have been a few more vans but that is real close. as far as the 5 largest considering only fleet size in order i would guess that fedex would be first then panther, t-state, e-1 then landstar.

What amazes me about this thread is the apparent willingness to rely on government statistics ......

Between that ....... and the paddle/chinchilla/canoe thing ...... I'm about ready to have an accident (and not vehicular) .....

....... Bwahahahah .... gotta ..... go ......

You're a very observant person Moot. Kinda hard to miss

I don't know Steve?
I took a gander through the EO classifieds and I see a much different picture. Don't see a lot of drivers/owners doing broker loads with their truck for sale or looking for drivers.
I do see trucks doing exclusive expedite in both catagories of "looking for drivers or teams", or "trucks for sale"

Speaking of "trucks for sale" there is a straight truck sittin on SR 14 near Deerfield, OH with the Bolt stickers peeled off. looks like an older straight truck but still makes me wonder if the owner got out of buisness.

Anything is possible. We have recieved several calls over the past month from folks looking to bail. Most seem to be severely upside down in their truck loans.

Since the Bolt stickers were peeled off and the truck was spotted on an even-numbered road, it can only mean that the truck was formerly with FedEx and THAT can only mean that FedEx will be filing bankrupcy by next Tuesday; probably because of that new dispatch system that will, soon go into effect.

It is hard to tell for sure without seing a picture, but the truck was probably driven by a dual-household team, put on by a fleet owner who paid more for the used truck than he should have and did not dyno test the truck before he bought it. If the truck was listed in the classifieds, I would be able to read between the lines, discern more about the expediting industry as a whole, and derive proof positive that my observations are correct.

Yep, that's me. I was the president too if you want to listen Juliewray. Since they think that know so much about me. But to be honest I really don't care. I don't have anything to prove anyone or anyone to impress so does it really matter what this person thinks of me. Nope.

Oh, and since they want to make fun of my writings. I never claimed to be a writer or the worlds best speller.

What would be the point in someone saying they are something they aren't that's crazy. I think an aircraft carrier would be a pretty big "expedite" carrier. Expediting a butt whooping that is.

I know what you mean Arkjarhead. I was in the Marines from Sept of 87 to Dec of 87. I got hurt at PI during bootcamp and was sent to MRP, so I guess that don't count as being in the service. Which is okay with me. My DD214 says I was in the Marines, but honestly does it really matter.
