When Panther bought Con-Way, Con-Way was at about 600 units. After the sale Panther's fleet was rumored to be between 1600 to 1800.

Must be a time lag with companies reporting and the posting...

At Express 1 load planning has a target of 250 loads/ day...and they told me they are over 300 units now...
How can you target 250 when you only have 212...somethings amiss.

BTW..I was told that the end of year target is 500 units.

In 5 years at DX never ever seen a company truck...always thought they were like P2...and didn't even own their shirt.

Seems like that will barly cover the turn over rate. As slow as it is I'm sure they will be droppng like flies.

Panther is not that big anymore. Last year they were touting themselves as the largest fleet after the Con Way buyout, but from looking at the Safer report, they're back to about the same size they were before the buyout. A lot of the Con-way peeps stayed less than six months.

I don't know what the fleet size is for PII, but I would think every fleet is smaller today than it was this time last year, except for some of the smaller ones.

At the time of the buyout Panther showed 710 trucks with 953 drivers. So I would have to say they are growing not getting smaller. Those stats came from the safer report too.

Bruno...The DOT maybe update BUT it can only post what info they have..IF a carrier hasn't submitted for the last year or more it's sort of redundant.

Everythime DOT does an in house inspection of logs and paperwork all the info is given to the DOT. It shows that in the Safer Report.

Yea Rumored, a trucking company info is open to the public. I checked it at the time they bought Con-Way. Con Way had less than 400 trucks and Panther was around 550 at the time. Over the half the Con Way trucks didnt go to Panther so the numbers add up. Panther has never been over 1000 trucks like they claim By Dot Records. At the same time I did check on FedEx Custom Critical and they was 1556 trucks. As you can see buy the Safer Report they have lost some trucks.

Doesn't really mater who has the most trucks or who is bigger. What really matters is who gives the customer the best service to keep them coming back.

I have a hard time buying that one partner. Con-Way offered a $1000 to every contractor that signed on with Panther. No stipulations. Just sign on. You yourself said in another post that you would sleep on the floor for two nights if the price was right. Why not get in bed with a 2 headed cat?
