I was thinking I should go pick all the tomatoes and bring them in to ripen since it's been close to freezing the last two nights and now it's supposed to be in the 70's during the day and the 40's at night...
Still have peppers to process and leeks too. When Ken comes home the next time he'll dig up the Pontiac Red potatoes. And I'll just keep picking the canteloupe one at a time until it does say freeze time..these cold nights make a good refrigerator! And I do have one more picking on the rhubarb..yup...should be a busy week!

ah shuddup....*lol* my maters are safely inside now so bring it on!
and now I've got a full laundry basket full of green tomatoes and a dishpan full of banana and jalapeno peppers...guess I've got some work cut out for me. I pulled all the plants and then watered the rest of the garden...and it's still kinda chilly out there.
How's the melons?.....

Weather.com isn't predicting any freeze for the next ten days so they should be good out in nature's refrigerator...but you'll have to come home soon and help eat them...

7 and a half quarts of salsa verde
8 pints of salsa (Mrs. Wages)
and am starting on 4 pints of green tomato raspberry jelly...but it's got to sit overnight.
My hands are burning from the peppers and all the hot jars and I'm starving but I don't want ANY tomatoes right now..*lol*
All this from 6 tomato plants and I still have about half a laundry basket to process..any luck and I might be done by winter!

Nope..you can make the salsa verde from green tomatoes..and OMG is it good. Fried some yukon gold potatoes with some shallots and smoked sausage and dumped some on top...I WILL be making more!
Can't wait until Ken gets home to try it!
Finished my jelly this morning and then mowed the lawn...hopefully for the last time! What a gorgeous day it was...and tomorrow will be cool and windy so will probably make more salsa verde!
JJB, how big is this garden of urs, u must have picked 10,000 maters IMHO> PS, if ur bored, got 3 acres of grass u can cut or plant , well maybe next year.
