hehehe...I snuck a peek at the green beans when I went out to water..yep..I got em! So sometime in the next few days I'll be out picking peas, beans and putting that stuff on the taters. Did I mention how sweet those peas were?:D

Well I finally got the Diatomaceous Earth sprinkled on the taters...time will tell! Grasshoppers have done a lot of damage to the leaves already..and now we have these small reddish colored dragon flies all over everything. I'd never seen them before..someone said they really liked the moisture we've had this year.

And I picked probably 5 pounds of peas so I'll be busy for a few more hours...

*pass the peas please!*

Now I lay me down to sleep
A box of green beans at my feet
the peas are packed and frozen solid
Tomatoes and peppers are showing strong
And the baby cukes won't be long!:)

Another cousin stopped by yesterday to check out my new kitchen and garden. We were checking out the silk on the corn when she told me about being in her garden...reaching for a handful of beans and looked up and was staring right into the face of a badger...didn't know she could backpedal so fast..*LOL*

It's almost coon time...they come in to check to see if the corn is done..they'll take off a cob, strip it down and if it's not ready they toss it on the ground. Sneaky little thieves in the middle of the night..

And the cats love to lay between the rows..the earth is cool and the plants shade them in the hot sun..see a garden is great for everyone!:)

oh...I had a dream about the potatoes last night..dreamt I found a foot long pontiac red that weighed in about 2 pounds..hmmmmmm..what does that mean? *lol*

Well I have to tell you, now I am officially jealous of you Juju.

Going from one disaster to another this year, my doc handed me a bit of news yesterday - no long term exposure to the sun any more (limited to five or ten minutes).

So no more gardening (even on cloudy days only in a thunderstorm), no more sitting on the deck of my yacht enjoying the ocean, no more driving in my Ferrarii convertible in the day time and no more sunning myself on the roof of my mansion.

NOW as I am recovering from second degree burns to my lower back and reading all about that great garden, I have to say ... this thread is worthless without pictures!! :p

maybe later Greg...right now I've got a full dishpan full of beans to process!

Reminder to self: Plant the rows further apart or don't wear short shorts to pick beans..every time I bent over the pea vines goosed me and I stuck my head in the corn silk..the bees were trying to claim dominance over the beans but I won! Then mama cat caught a bird, brought it into the garden and Sam the siamese stole it from her and was flipping it in the air and dropping it in the beans..gardening IS an experience..*LOL*

You're right dear...I did forget about the snakes..that's the beauty of having cats bug ya...snakes don't like cats...:D
