If I were you, I'd be in hotel/motel room ....sleeping in a truck or sleeping bag at -20 to -35 is not my idea of anything close to sane....

I plan on getting one just checking prices now. I slept last night pretty good idling but I had to run the heater on notch 2 to feel any difference in tempature.

I've had the best January I can remember. Spent week #2 clad in snow chains and running local deliveries all over the Atlanta area which turned out to be very lucrative. On top of that, pulling people out of snow banks and off slick ice with a tow strap at $50 a throw. I did a few freebies for the ones in the senior citizen category. Amazing thing is... all the stores were out of milk and bread, but lo and behold every Walmart was fully stocked with snow chains. I saw exactly one other vehicle with chains that whole week and everybody else looked at me as I passed by them as if I had antennas sticking out of my head.

These southern natives just aren't well equipped to deal with snow. I will tell you this, some of my neighbors that used to call me Yankee are now calling me friend.

Everybody in my neighborhood had stacks of firewood and whatever else they needed thanks to the fact that I always carry a full set of chains in every vehicle. FYI they work great if you get stuck in mud also.

Back on topic, it was a good month for me. Lots of local airfreight to keep me busy between my longer runs to Mississippi, Montana, Ohio, Wisconsin and half a dozen to Kentucky.

Just ordered up a new set of BFG Long Trail TA's and having them installed at 8am.

fired at you from my Droideka

Well got a shorty...9 total miles including DH...It was one of those loads that Guido spoke of a week or 2 ago..I had to call to make sure the pay numbers were right....I can tell you that this would have been a $75-$100 "do us a favor" mini with most companies...what I was paid was more then I would have made if I had had to run 400 miles...I was paid my normal % of what Load 1 got for the run plus a fsc...

It is things like this that just re-enforce and make it clear that my coming to Load 1 was the right decision for my business...

Thanks Joe (in dispatch) and John for doing what you say you will do no matter what the cost is when others wouldn't think of doing the same thing...

congrats...wish I could get a gig on with load 1. They seem to be on par to being a drivers friend than use the driver to max out their own profits and not share it with the back bone and blood line of their company which is the driver.

With Panther. Your lucky to get a measly $25 bonus on a load like that. They would rather give you a first out lol.

I cant resist anymore call it boredom whatever u want. Took a load to Three Rivers, mi then Grand Rapids to Iowa City, waited it out at the Iowa 80...and got a load from Freeport, IL to Detroit and drove through Snowmaggedon last night. I got to the Chrysler Mack plant and find out that they are closed. So here I sit in Mi til tomorrow at 0530 waiting to deliver this freight and getting detention. At a Walmart parking lot staring at a Swift truck

Sounds tempting....but i guess since i have this stuff (i think its called freight) on my van i have to deliver by 0530 so it wouldnt make sense. And yes Blowhio is an appropriate name for the past couple of days

I been home since well before December 25th. I don't regret my decision to sit the winter time out and get dental work done at all! I just got the other half of my mouth deep cleaned and i'm now getting ready for 6 fillings to be done on the 9th. Then I gotta decide whether or not to get a root canal on the back tooth or have it pulled and put an implant in next year.

Don't let them jerk your chain Fali. Everyone has different luck and different circumstances in this business. I put almost 15k in empty miles on my truck last year just to get home once in a while. I don't even worry about what other people think. What works for some doesn't necessarily work for everyone!
