February locations

Romulus MI...............

Had a delivery in Gwinn MI last night. Left there and headed south. Got tired about 100 miles . Pulled over and pulled into a gas station. Fell asleep around 1230. At 3 2 cops were banging on my window wanting to know if I was alright

and said the clerk walked out and seen me slumped over in the seat and thought I might be dead. He then started questing me why I was in the area. Where I been. Where I came from etc etc . My owner is out of Florida and wanting to wonder why im up here from Florida. Had to explain again why im here and what we do and that my fleet owner owns the van I just drive it . He then started asking if I been drinking. Then asked for my ID and ran it. Talked to the clerk and he came back and told me everything was good and the clerk said it was ok for me to sleep there. And they left.

I was so tired I feel asleep in the drivers seat and didnt fold out my bed. Left the lights on and the radio was on a comedy channel on XM wide open. I must of closed my eyes for a second and passed out lol. This is the 2nd time this has happened and probably wont be the last haha.

Wow thats great to hear! I always seem to have trouble getting freight out of Florida for some reason. At this point I generally refuse anything going there unless its in the northern half of the state.

ECM started wigging out in Chattanooga on Friday, getting random misfires above 60mph. So I opted to give away my load and limp it home to Georgia. 130 miles of back country roads made for a very nice liesurely drive home at low speed. New ECM will be here tomorrow, I will do the job myself. Yes, I already replaced the plugs and coil packs... first thing. Still kept doing it so I pulled the ECM and had it checked at a dealership... time for a new one.

Life could be worse... got to assemble my new BBQ and grill up some steaks in the summer-like weather.

Chris: that last paragraph is pretty scary - if you're that tired when you stop, you waited too long, IMO. Are there any signs that you might notice before you get to that point? [For me, it's getting really irritable, and if I keep going, my eyes start going 'out of focus' for a millesecond here & there].
I'm just saying, you want to get parked before you fall asleep, and it sounds like you're pushing your luck on it.

I appreciate your concern cheri. And to be honest I was tired but not tired enough to where I was all over the road. I wasnt closing my eyes ( nodding off ) or anything like thar but it was getting hard to keep them open. I was irritable at times. But I dont think I was a danger on the road. I think I was more mentally drained than anything. The roads were snow covered and I probably drove on them for maybe 200 miles . I get tensed up and up on the wheel more when I drive on snow. Being from Ga we dont get much snow and I had no experience driving in snow before expediting. I am comfortable driving on it now but I still stay tense.

But when I know im tired I start blinking alot and my eyes get heavy. I cant get comfortable in my seat.

Also glad you liked the deer eating popcorn. I couldnt stop watching it for 10 minutes when I first saw it. I laughed so much.

You ever go to the Oak Grove Petro out there on I-70 on the Missouri side? They have a huge movie theatre where you can sit and watch movies while you wait for a load. It's also a pretty decent place to park and get some rest. It's not very far from the Rail yard either. That little Flying J is a very noisy place to try and get some sleep.

That Petro in Oak Grove is FAR better than that "J" is. The TA across the street is a DUMP. We often fuel at the TA for the discount then go across to the Petro to stay.
