WiSH I could get home just put in my 3rd request.

But wolfman best I can describe the pedal is. Going down the road or stopped. Mash the pedal it takes a good bit for it to start grabbing. I noticed last night about 4 inches from the floor is far as it goes when trying to push it to the floor. The pedal Just feels mushy that I get no real stopping power till gets down to the floor or until pump the brakes a time or two. This could be a normal thing on sprinters I got no clue. It's up to my fleet owner where he wants to take it. Really doubt any place around here will work on them unless could talk to a freightliner shop that takes sprinters.

Chris, give Dan a call...you cannot be running around with brake issues. These guys are a Freightliner Sprinter dealer and at one time were a MB sprinter dealer...

http://www.memphis.ftlsprinterdealer.com/

That van isn't under warranty now, so take to people that have the proper diagnostic tools and people that are trained specfically to repair them. Have them check it over, all the warning lights, the low brake pedal, the def system and the flow of the "cat" converter, get an estimate and then let Dan know and make the decision...but you canot run around with the brakes like that..it dangerous to you, the public, your freight and for Load 1... get it looked at asap....

Chris, you need to get it looked at as soon as you can.

That said, do an easy test to check the booster. With the engine off, put your foot on the brake pedal and depress it several times. Keep your foot on the pedal and start the engine. The pedal should sink. Keeping your foot on the pedal, shut the engine off. The pedal should not move. If it sinks or rises, there is a problem in the booster or the check valve.

Ken fluid level is between low and full. It's closer to full than low.

Chef spoke to Dan about it last night about it. He told me to get it looked at some place local.

Wolfman done the test. The Pedal sunk on the first restart. Turned engine back off it did not sink but it felt like it was trying to push back a little.

I'm guessing it just needs to be properly bled. I recently changed out my brake fluid (it's hydroscopic, so you need to remove and renew it every couple of years). Properly bleeding it requires a DRBIII tool with the Sprinter module, and it's a 2-man job to do it right.

That's what I'm hoping turtle. Just something simple. Taking it for repair tomorrow at the link chef posted so maybe they can get down to the problem.

After what turtles link he posted the brakes should be normal what I'm feeling ? I wanna get them checked to be sure but what I'm experiencing seems normal

Yeah, they're kinda mushy anyway. It's the long pedal travel time before they catch and start braking (and then the pumping to make it work) is what makes me think it's a bleed problem.

Do read this post, to either (possibly) confirm or deny that it's a problem.

Good and informative article. However, it refers to the 02 to 06 model years. Chris has the new body style which was a complete redesign. They were just coming out when I left. I had been to a couple of pre-release classes at the training academy where they mentioned a possible change in the brakes to minimize the pedal drop to stop the owner complaints and it involved the booster. Daimler never released specifics but it is a different booster from the ones on the old body style.

At this point, it needs to be looked at since Chris isn't sure if what he's feeling is normal or not. On it's face, the pedal pushing back when he shut the engine down indicates a possible booster or check valve issue that needs checked.

After all the speculation, it'll be interesting to find out the results.

Chris,

Have you tried hitting ctrl-alt-delete? This often fixes a number of my problems.
