Tropigal, what most of us are trying to do is keep our meal expenses more in line with what we'd spend eating at home. Most "average income" folks don't eat all their meals in a restaurant to keep control of their budget. Those of us that have vehicles equipped with micros and fridges can use these to keep costs down. When I was in my cargo van I didn't have these things and my meal expenses were much higher. Trust me, most of us aren't splitting hot dogs in half. When I buy the 2 for 2 dogs at the Pilot they don't stay around long enough for that.
Steady, back when I was married, in the time before time, I still remember the first time I offered to do the grocery shopping. I was given "the list" and off I went. I was back in about a half an hour. The wife was astonished! She was certain that I hadn't gotten everything on the list. I had, plus ice cream and beer.
Disclaimer: There's nothing "sexist" going on, or anything of that sort. The wife just enjoyed shopping and preferred to do it herself. If she was busy, I'd do it.
