Yeah, I ate too many hockey pucks. (played goal from time to time)

I did lose much of my sense of taste on the right side in 1970, which helps a lot when forced into a Tim Horton's! :D

I never said they were, or were trying too, ignore 60% to 70% of the population.

Of course you didn't - but it was so obvious from your assertion of 30% to 40% that I did ...

All I said is that it makes little sense not to try to reach as many people as possible, from a marketing standpoint. The larger the potential market the greater potential for revenue.
It might be said that there's two parts to marketing something:

A. presenting things that appeal to an audience, and

B. avoiding presenting things that repel them ...

Many things they advertise now repels me, and likely many others.

They are clearly written and make sense in that respect. I was ONLY speaking from marketing standpoint.
I'm trying to be polite here. I guess I'll just come out and say it, and I'll do it by asking you a couple of rhetorical questions.

Just who do you think the NFL is marketing their product to?

Who do you think they are ignoring that if they change their marketing strategy would increase viewership and revenue?

Keep in mind that the NFL is the most watched team sport in the world, and the team sport with the most in-person attendance in the world.

Many things, but am not going into detail. Too much "fodder" for those who seek to ridicule. Far too many in here look for "ammunition" for personal attacks.

nothing like a well placed yeast infection commercial at dinnertime....yuck....JuJu always laugh when they come on...if I have the remote I mute the volume or change channel...LOL

The commercials get worse as it gets closer to the holidays. Yeah, there is good reason not to have yeast infection commercials on at dinner time.

I can think of many, many things different people from political views or religious beliefs could be offended at....

that said..we do live in a free country but even tho they try to sensitize those commercials someone will always find a way to be offended....

Many don't even try to sensitize them, whether they should or not is another debate. As to living in a free country, not any longer.

Which is why I watch less and less TV and even less sports than I once did.

I wonder, just how many buy items based on commercials? I don't ever recall buying anything based on what I saw on a commercial. Quite the contrary, the more a product is advertised the less likely I am to buy it.
