Boycott the NFL

Guns are inanimate objects, incapable it doing anything on their own. That is a fact. It cannot be questioned. All firearms, which are tools, are designed to do one thing and one thing only, expel a projectile, or projectiles, down a tube, using the pressure of expanding gasses from fast burning powder. What that projectile, or projectiles, are used for, good or evil, is an individual choice.

People are killed by products that are advertised by the NFL almost on a daily basis. The NFL, the general population, are not concerned with that, nor should they be. An organization, etc, that advertises legal products, is in no way responsible if those products are used to commit a crime.

There is a story today, in the local news, about a woman that was run over by a car the driver fled the scene. It is conceivable that the car in question was advertised by the NFL. What is the difference? Are those killed in a car crime somehow more dead than those killed in a criminal act with a gun?

As I said, I don't care what they do. It's their choice. It's just fun to discuss this.

My wife had a young niece killed in a car wreck near home a few years back.

Had she been shot, I think she would feel more dead.
You might think of moving. You might feel less comfortable in the home.

Cars brought us into the modern world. Where would we be without the automobile ?

Guns, I can't make the same argument. Without guns we'd have bored hunters.
So what.

The most avid hunter I know is bored, even sitting around the house with his guns.

Guns are not ONLY used for hunting. Guns can, and are, used legally to defend home and family on a regular basis. Guns are legally used to stop crimes. Guns are used in other shooting sports besides hunting, all legal, like skeet shooting, trap shooting, 3 gun competition, etc etc etc.

The point is that ANY inanimate object can be used for legal or illegal purposes. Just last night a Jeep Grand Cherokee, a vehicle heavily advertised during NFL games, was used in the commission of a crime. That Cherokee, was stolen from it's owner, (just as many guns that are used in crimes are, it should have been in a safe) and driven through the front door of a high in clothing store, to allow access for thieves to steal high end coats. Had the NFL never advertised the jeep the thieves would have likely used another vehicle. The NFL has yet to comment on their responsibility in this matter. Officials at NFL headquarters did say however, that they are reviewing the policy on Jeep advertising.

If the guy coming thru the front door had a 2x4 you wouldn't need a gun to protect yourself.
Watched a 48 Hrs Friday night where a dude got shot 4 times in a car jacking.
He probably wishes he was up against a 2x4. Or knife.
His chances probably would have been better.

They don't have metal detectors. You can carry anything you want into the DOT office.

I can choose to defend my wife, my self and my property as I see fit. NO one has a RIGHT to invade my home, threaten the health or safety of my wife or myself, or steal my property. I DO have a RIGHT to defend all of that, by what ever means I see fit to use.

When was the last time 48 hours gave all sides of a story? Do they ever show the thousands up thousands of crimes that are stopped by the legal use of guns? Do they ever take about the MILLIONS of people in this country that own guns and NEVER use them to commit crimes? Do they ever take about the millions of kids who are involved in legal shooting sports, shoot in leagues? There is NO balanced reporting when it comes to firearms. The vast majority of the reporting is negative stories when the reality is that the vast majority of firearm use is legal and the vast majority of firearms owner do not commit crimes.

I carry most of the time when home. While nothing can ever insure our safety 100% my firearm gives me a chance I would not have otherwise.

Leo you have every right to boycott if you wish. My question is how does their policy in anyway affect your ability to defend yourself.

Bottles and cans of beer are inanimate objects, incapable it doing anything on their own. That is a fact. It cannot be questioned. All beers, which are beverages, are designed to do one thing and one thing only, have their contents be poured down the throat and into the stomach of a human, using the pressure of muscle contractions and the force of gravity, and then be digested by the human body for fuel. What the resulting fuel from the digestions of the contents of the beers are used for, good or evil, is an individual choice.

You choose to not carry on the road and I fully understand why. BUT, if you really believed what you are saying, you would carry on the road also...

I wish people were more comfortable with statistics and math in general. As the number of people that own guns increases, the number of people killed by guns increases.

But then of course you've got that clusterf**k called the 2nd amendment. I know the founding fathers were cooler than cool but they were human and that amendment is about the nuttiest thing ever written. A person could probably twist it into giving a crazy sod like me the right to own a nuclear weapon. Do you really think I should be trusted with a nuc? With the level of road rage I carry around? Do you really? hahahahahaha

More guns = more death and I'm not a big fan of death. Anything that tries to curtail gun ownership is something I'm probably a fan of.
