Back to Iraq?

We did NOT go into Rownada. China, Russia or anywhere else millions were being killed. Why Iraq?[/QUOTE

Why Iraq? Because we screwed it up. We have a history of armed conflict in Iraq. We made promises to the Iraqi people. Given the lack of competent leadership in Iraq, the people of Iraq look to us for protection. It will be much harder to break ISIS if they are allowed more time to grow and strengthen. Break ISIS now while it is still in its infancy.

NO introduction of US forces, UNLESS, we intend to fight and win it. We won't do that. We have lost FAR too many troops over the last 60 years, pretending to fight.

We do not have the money, the forces or the will, to do what it would take to stop what is going on there.

It would NOT stop in Iraq, and, before it was over, we would be locking horns with Russia.

Are you willing to march into, and take Iran? Syria? IF NOT, don't bother. What would you do when Russia gets involved? I contend that we don't have the forces, the money, or the will, to fight and WIN a war.

SOME in Iraq look to us for protection, just as many, or more, try to kill us.

I'd have to say Yes...because WE created the present conditions for this to happen and fester....our mess, we should clean it up.

We can't, you know that

How can you do that WITHOUT taking out Iran, Syria, and likely tangling with Russia?

Are you willing to put the B52's in the air and carpet bomb? IF you are NOT willing to fight it, and win it, like WWII, stay home.

The Iraqi Kurds, if properly armed, are more than capable of dealing with ISIS. We have a good working relationship with the Kurds. They are fierce fighters but outgunned since ISIS now has possession of the military assets we left behind in Iraq. In essence, the United States has armed ISIS unwittingly.

The Maliki government is a sham. The Kurds will defend the Kurdistan region, the rest of Iraq poses a whole different problem. There is a lot of speculation suggesting Iraq be split into 3 separate entities.

The Kurds have to look in TWO directions, not just one. They have to watch Turkey. IF we arm the Kurds, as heavily as we need too, Turkey, a member of NATO, would likely take that as a threat to them. They have been bumping heads with Turkey for a VERY long time. They consider parts of Turkey to be their land.

ISIS has arms that were left for the Iraqi's, who ran, or joined ISIS. I also believe that most of the supplies being used by ISIS are coming in from "other" sources.

I would be a hindrance.

LOL! You could be right on that one! I sure would be! At least I can shoot, that's about it.

We would have to put 500K total into that region, and fight it till it is over. We can't just stop in Iraq. I don't believe the American People would stand for an all out, no holds barred, war. That is what this is going to take.

We can argue over whether or not we should have went in to begin with. Once there, we SHOULD have fought to win and we should NOT have pulled out when we did. Obama was told that, he ignored all advice.

The United States doesn't have the luxury of looking away from this. We will be compelled to deal with ISIS. ISIS has seized control of the Mosul dam which sits upstream of 2 million people.

The governments of Russia and Turkey are rational, they will not go to war with the US. ISIS is fanatical, irrational and cannot be allowed to consolidate more power. Support those forces within Iraq which will fight ISIS. ISIS has prospered on the imagry of its barbarism. Yet, they aren't ten feet tall and bulletproof. They can be stopped.

ISIS is a relatively tiny force with a great will. We have become a great force with a tiny will. This kind of thinking puts the US in peril.

We have not fought to win since 1945. We won't do it here either. In THAT case, we need to come home. You cannot stop at the border of Iraq. You are also going to be fighting a very large portion of the Iraqi's.

Do you honestly believe we can win a REAL war IF we are NOT willing to fight it?

Gen Schwarzkopf and his army's fought Desert Storm to win. Had Bush the 1st listened and allowed Stormin Norman (sorry Mr Cash, i had to use it) to go into Bagdad and take out Saddam, we wouldn't have this problem today.

Help the Kurds establish a safe haven where religious and ethnic minorities can flee.

Eventually, the West will confront Iran and Syria. It is inevitable. For now, save as many innocent Iraqis from slaughter as possible.

Not going to happen, Turkey won't allow it. Russia is going to get involved. We don't have the will to take on Iran or Syria, and no one is going to go there with us.

We did not have a charter to do that. THAT is why we keep losing. We DON'T fight to win. We did not in Korea, Vietnam, and we have not fought to win now. We keep losing troops, kitty footing around.

We WILL not do what needs done, we will lose MORE lives, for nothing, and nothing will change. That goes double with the military genius we have in the White House.

Neither Turkey, Iran, Syria nor Russia will confront us militarily. That's preposterous. No uniformed army in its right mind would do such a thing to themselves.

Turkey is going to split from NATO and join the Soviets. The "BEAR" is flying "Cold War" patrols again. They KNOW we are in financial trouble. They are well aware that we are weak and not in control of our borders. They KNOW Obama won't lift a finger to stop them.

Iran would have NO problem fighting us, neither would Syria. Both know we would not really fight them. They know we would play at it for a bit and cut and run. That is all we do now.

When was the last time a bonafide standing army declared war against the United States directly? It is an irrational act.

Any US president who refused to defend the US homeland would be removed from office in short order.
