Broker in Metro Detroit about a load to TN I just bid on.
"I have team drivers that need to head back home for 88 cents per mile"

My response to him.
"Thank them, from me, for what they're doing to expedite rates!!

Actually I deadheaded up to San Antinio for 96 CPM on one load and pulled a Laredo to Smyrna, TN for $1.00 per mile. The first time I went to Laredo I dropped on a Thursday and ended up deadheading ALL the way home that weekend. But I did get $1.29 going down from MI so I had some extra money in it. That was a year ago and those numbers don't hold up any longer.
But I will NOT sit anywhere 4 days. That's why my deadhead total is 28%.
Whether I like it or not, it's 28%.

I find .88 fine as long as it takes me in the direction of home.
