The part is coming directly from the vendor, where ever that is..they claim 3-5 "working days" to process the order..It maybe here Monday if the stars are aligned in my favour! The way things have been going I'll not hold my breathe..
It only takes about an hour to install and program...

Sooooo off to the motel manager to swing a deal...:D

That Stinks!

Unfortunately, the ECM is vehicle specific. The VIN has to be programmed in at the parts location. They have the software, the dealer doesn't. Once it gets to the dealer, the rest of the vehicle info gets programmed in. To my knowledge, Mercedes has not released the software so ECM's can be recycled.

I'll give you another. To buy a Sprinter key, you have to order it from the dealer, who orders it from the warehouse. Upon receipt of the key, the dealer will cut it based on the VIN. The dealer then sends the key to a company in CA to have the proper crystal installed and they send it back to the dealer. When you pick up your key in about 10 days or so and hand the dealer $300, you're good to go.

All Mercedes vehicles are set up this way should you ever decide to buy one.:(

They must try to repair them if possible as there is a core charge

John as far as stinks...I believe the road to success takes a few turns thru Detroit...it gets bumpy at times...LOL

Tracy said he hated dealing with Mercedes, now I know why. Guess should buy AMERICAN. GM parts can be over nighted, then you are on your way.

Tracy says that Mercedes is one of the most expensive vehicles but the absolute worst customer service around, getting things fixed take an extreme amount of time.

I would say in the Mercedes situation you don't get what you pay for, when you spend money like that on a vehicle, you don't expect to have to have it in the shop for weeks at a time to get simple things fixed. If it were a GM product the same thing would be fixed in a fraction of the time. Absolutely insane, IMO.

Keep this thought in mind though...that mercedes has over 600,000 miles on it now..

In the wash bay at the yard. Tracy is washing the truck I am sitting inside the trcuk playing on the computer. Nice day outside today. We moved to #2.

I think we will be sitting all weekend, at least this weekend we will be by home. Maybe a move home is in order. My kids will all be upset. they wanted me to babysit this weekend so they could all go on a Canoe trip together. I told them I had to work to make money to pay bills, etc, etc. But I think I will be at home after all. At least I will be able to see the new grandbaby and not have to wait a week or so to see him.

They do for Mercedes vehicles. They won't release the software to the aftermarket. Nothing special about the ECM, just a computer, the software makes it work. Germany's revenge???

I hope so, Been waiting since Wed. morning dropped the last load just before midnight Tuesday. Been waiting ever since.

Really, Really need a good load. I have a few bills that I need to pay before the end of the month that I don't have the money for right now. If I don't get them paid all the hard work I put in over the past 5 years would be for a waste. I have to pay to renew my Auctioneer license. If not paid by Aug. 30th, I have to start all over, by going to school etc. I spent over $2000 to get my license and it was always my dream to be an auctioneer. All I need to do is renew my license, which is only every 2 years. I can't take from the household budget to do so. Even if I could we haven't made enough this month so far to even pay our regular household bills. Been a rough time lately.

I have an auction that a lady wants me to do for her in Michigan, but I won't do the auction in time to pay the Ohio license fee. Always something in life, I'll tell ya.

I am driving with Tracy because he was done being a mechanic. Now I am going to lose what I worked for. I have not been real easy to live with this week. Oh well, life will happen as it happens.

I'm with Ken on this one Laura. I just got back out here after sitting on my fanny for six months. It's slow, but we're with the best company with the best dispatchers I've ever worked with. If it's out there, they'll find it.

Ken, now that you're going through this and hopefully have it worked out soon, let me ask: Would you do it different next time? What I mean is do you think it's better for you to go for the duration on your truck or to set a limit (whether miles or age) and replace it then.
This isn't a criticism, as there's no right answer of course, only choices. And it's your truck so I'm just curious (and bored lol) so I thought I'd ask.

well there are no guarantees even with a new truck...I think I am in the right direction..but then again I have my moments of doubt...
