I see what you're saying, Ziggi. A freind of mine just got a load from Wi. to L.A. paying .95cpm. Doable, yes.
But once we reduced our rates to the bid boards or customers to get us through the slow times, and to keep us moving, how do you explain, once it has picked up, the reason for our rates going back up? I think once we reduce our rates they are going to expect that rate all of the time, and if we go back to our usual rates, they may find someone else that will give them the rate they are after.
I've seen this happen while leased to other companies. The rates never went back up after it picked up. Well, at least the driver pay didn't,anyway.
I'm not rocking this boat. The excruciatingly slow first quarter multiplied times four and I'm still on track for my second best year in expediting. I've got all kinds of patience left.

The problem with that is that you risk replacing the dispatch order with a "let's make a deal" system where the last guy on the board undercuts everyone above him to jump the list. In some ways that's business, but it can become a slippery slope pretty quick also.Agreed... You can't win...I would at least like the opportunity to have a .... More varied ummm pay scale ... You say you don't want cheap on your trucks... Bottom line it's our truck under your banner....lets us be the business person we are and give us more selection.
Xig,
I think the flexibility is already built in. If someone feels the need for a reduced rate to get moving, is anything stopping the driver from asking for a 70 cent load?
In OUR little world, we can probably get a little farther down the road if we work on helping our stuggling friends directly instead of rattling John's cage. I think that's mostly my point from the start.

Oh to add a backhaul out of a bad area they never pay good lol. But being in a straight sometimes you have to take sprinter pay or less to get out of there. Sprinters may have to take cargo van pay. But a crap load gets you to a better area its worth it. We once took a crap backhaul after sitting in tx for a week. It didnt cover the fuel to ohio, but when we delivered we had a load that paid great it covered up the loss of the last load. Its all about the average !
So does that mean I can't ask bid team to bid cheaper for me so I can stay running ie. .85-.90$ per mile?!
This is not the first dance for most of us here. We have been around the block a few times. Congrats on your first load.
Oh. You obviously didn't see the written plan Juju submitted for you unit. Awkward.
Yes and no. Depends on situation, time and place. Generally we don't want the Load One name on those bids as a practice. You knew you didn't sign on to "that" kind of carrier.
