No, I am not blind. We do not get stacked up everywhere, and you know it.

Don't talk about the facts until you know them.

I think you guys forget what stacked up at other carriers meant. I wouldn't call 2 or 3 stacked? You would think we had 300 sprinters the way you talk.

I know we are nowhere near say Panther, where they can have as many as 37 vans in Lodi at any given time, or other areas as well. My idea of stacked, for us, outside of Taylor, would be 6 plus, which I have seen in a couple of areas from time to time.

The stacking up generally happens when we have a direct shipper sending a lot of freight to a given area. More or less vans in the fleet does not solve that problem and we definitely have to cover the freight. I have seen 5 to 6 stacked up fairly often. I consider stacked up to be 3 or more anywhere outside of Detroit metro.

I agree with Guido's comment in that I believe the only good solution is to find more freight coming out of those areas where we tend to get stacked up. I would imagine that operations and the new sales group are focused on those specific areas. Again, I would think the layover pay being paid out in particular areas would be a clear indication where the sales group needs to focus.

These things will take time. I'm not any happier about certain things than anyone else, but unless we want to jump in the pile with the 80-90 cent/mile crowd, we will have to give John and the gang time to find their way through some of these problems.

You guys. No doubt things are tough and we all are taking a hit, but, remember that there are many who are struggling other places and have the added expense of running lots of miles. As stated, give it a little more time, streamline your business and cut expenses anyway possible. Do any of you really want to be anywhere else ?

Rather run for .90 than sit for days. I see customer loads and bid board loads as two completely different things. Personally while waiting for the customer base to build up I would prefer more pro active bidding. I know one size doesn't fit all just my feelings on it.

I see what you're saying, Ziggi. A freind of mine just got a load from Wi. to L.A. paying .95cpm. Doable, yes.

But once we reduced our rates to the bid boards or customers to get us through the slow times, and to keep us moving, how do you explain, once it has picked up, the reason for our rates going back up? I think once we reduce our rates they are going to expect that rate all of the time, and if we go back to our usual rates, they may find someone else that will give them the rate they are after.

I've seen this happen while leased to other companies. The rates never went back up after it picked up. Well, at least the driver pay didn't,anyway.

We've seen our own guys run below .90 so where is the cheap line? 1 of our guys i know of and was sitting with when he got the offer run for .76 last year.

No good answer when trying to balance rate vs moving. If we hold the rates everyone gets upset they aren't moving. If we go down with the competition people complain we are like them. We do our best to be "slow" to adjust to market conditions.

Agreed... You can't win...I would at least like the opportunity to have a .... More varied ummm pay scale ... You say you don't want cheap on your trucks... Bottom line it's our truck under your banner....lets us be the business person we are and give us more selection.
