This thread is going to be about the Anytime Fitness locations that you have currently frequented..please give as much detailed information as possible (good and bad). I am currently at Nitro WV location, it is one of the nicer ones(little bias maybe-hometown) it has four unisex private baths/showers, and located beside a Walmart(plenty of parking for bigger trucks)

There are some in Chattanooga tn and doing well and they look nice. I have not been in a workout place in years, but I do walk mostly. At 66 the YMCA has the silver section for old pharts with old parts. Arm curls for me are done with Longneck Buds, lol. That said, I still walk daily unless there is rain, and no , Im not training in the rain, thats a Marine thingie.

I joined Anytime Fitness because of what I read on these forums. My local club waived the sign up fee, waived the first month fee, and is only charging me $30 per month. They also got my electronic key working everywhere in only about a week. They also have a free app that uses gps to locate you, and then locates the clubs near you.

My home club in Cudahy WI you would never get anything larger than a CV in their lot. No other parking nearby either. Nice club, 3 restrooms with showers. Clean, newer equipment and good safe neighborhood. (about 1/2 mile from my house)

Last week I was in Stratford ON. Used the locator app and found they had one club. Went there and it was really nice, clean, newer equipment and again 3 restrooms with showers. It was in a strip mall with a 24 hour grocery store and had a nice diner also. Parking lot was very large, you could get anything we drive in there. I spent the night in their lot and it was quiet, clean and felt safe. No one ever asked me why I was there and lots of locals out walking their dogs, again nice clean safe area for overnight parking.

Diane and I find the clubs to be mostly the same. When you travel the country and use multiple clubs, it makes little difference what particular brand of equipment they use, whether a particular type of exercise machine is available, or if they have six treadmills or eight. We're after the basics: a clean place, a good workout, private showers and room to park.

We find the basics by using the ATF web site to verify that a given location has private showers. All locations we have considered have showers. We are told that some locations do not but have yet to encounter any of those. We next use Google Maps to view the location from the sky to see about parking.

There's not much more to it than that. ATF runs clean, well-equipped gyms and parking is usually available. That's good enough for us.

Waukesha Wisconsin dosent have showers..well the one by the airport dosent...but i think that one was a satelite location, just to give the locals more options..Some locations are dead, and you can workout, shower, ect...other ones are busy(El paso comes to mind) and dont plan to Park anything other then a Cargo Van at the Des moines IA location( its on second floor Downtown)

Very interesting, thanks for the tip. A couple of questions: Is it tax deductible and is there a reduced rate for couples? Thanks again

Are there showers at that location in addition to or in the restrooms? The ATF web site says there are private showers there. Is that correct or not?

That's good to know. Diane and I rely on that web site to check out the gyms before visiting them. So far, it has been 100% accurate. We would not go to a gym that did not have showers.

This is probably one of the worst one ive been to so far, only two restroom/showers, the showers are filthy, a lady last night bought her four kids in with her, i tried to wait them out and finally fell asleep, woke up in the morning, anf they were still there, passed out on the chairs and mats. They trashed the bathrooms.but still better then nothing, was going to call n complain, but others might not like me sitting in this chair watching football instead of working out.

We just joined so we are not able to get into gyms in "off hours" except our own gym where we joined. It is REALLY nice! It is located off I-64 (ext 136) at Zion Crossroads between Charlottesville and Richmond, VA. The owner said she would certainly welcome other members to use the equipment and showers. Towels are not furnished but everything was exceptionally clean. She even has disinfectant wipes at each piece of equipment and we noticed everyone using the equipment wiped it down when they finished.

We visited another ATF in Raymore, MO. The owner was happy for us to come in and use the machines and showers even though we could only get in when he was there. Every location we have checked out in our travels has been in a great location with plenty of parking. We are looking forward to being able to go in anytime and work out and get showers and park for the evening if we want.

We believe this is one of the best investments in our health and well being. We paid for a year's membership and we also received great discounts and waived fees.

You raise a good point. On one hand, if seating and TV is provided, one might reasonably assume that it would be OK to watch a football game there. On the other hand, these clubs are made for working out. Other members may think you creepy for malingering and you could get reported simply because you are not behaving according to the norm.

With member photos on file and video cameras everywhere, Diane and I use the gyms for their intended purpose; working out. We go in, work out, shower and leave. We are ATF members, yes, but in these individually owned clubs, we conduct ourselves as guests, which we are. Our home club that made money selling us the membership is in Minnesota and we only go there when we are there. We are guests at all other locations, grateful for privilege of visiting them.

We just joined ...

It is beginning to sound like Anytime Fitness would benefit by putting a booth at the Expo. People from corporate could staff the booth and sign people up at their home gyms.
