You already know this but others may not. Unlike truck stop showers, ATF showers are not cleaned after every use. It's like using showers at RV parks whee you may not be the first one to use it after it has been cleaned. Allowing for that, we have yet to come upon an ATF shower that was truly dirty; used before, yes, but dirty? No.

Every gym we have been in is stocked with disinfectant wipes and/or spray. As with truck stops, we wear shower shoes. We use the disenfectant to wipe down the surfaces we will touch/use before using the showers. Heat has always been fine. Sometimes you have to wait a bit for the hot water to arrive because no one has used the shower in a while. There are times when you are the first one to use it after it has been cleaned.

Water pressure varies (same as truck stops) but has always been acceptable.

Texarkana, AR - Going West it is just past the Flying J on I30. There is not room for big trucks but C or D units will have plenty of parking. Nice, clean facility with showers.

The Anytime Fitness web site has an accompanying web site called Anytime Health. It includes a forum not unlike the EO Open Forum in which members ask questions and discuss various health and fitness topics. Knowing little about physical fitness, I find this fourm to be both informative and inspirational.

Diane and I continue to use these gyms a few times each week with good results. They are first-class places in which we feel very much at home now that we have become more familiar with the facilities and equipment.

I have actually seen a couple of their facilities lately by complete accident. Both times I had just pulled into an open parking area after delivery and was surprised to see an Anytime Fitness.

The first one was in Marysville, MI (near Port Huron). It had ample parking available in a fairly large shopping center. The shopping center itself is aged and very low traffic, but it appeared they had completely remodeled the one area that the fitness center was in. It looked nice. I could see inside and it looked like there was a couple of small rooms off to one side which I assumed to be the shower/bathroom combos.

The second was in Spring Hill,TN. To those who run automotive loads down there, you take the last exit on the Saturn Parkway, just before you get to the gm plant. It is in a very new strip mall and a very nice area. Straight trucks could park there, but it is not a large area. I personally wouldnt park a straight truck for any longer than it takes to work out and/or shower. A t/t would fill the lot. I did not try to look inside since there were people working out, so I cant say about the shower/bath.

I looked for an android app for ATF and came up with several related to atf and ath, but they all seemed to be for diet and excercise information. Is there anything available for the android that shows locations?

I am interested in joining. A good locations app would likely seal the deal.

Diane and I use flip phones, not smart phones. To find gyms we use the ATF Find a Gym web page or Google Maps. The web page for each gym will tell you if a gym has showers. Most do.

There is a locator for iPhone. Try typing in the complete name in your android version of the App Store. There should be a locator there

I did...with no luck. You would think they would do both?

Thank you very much for all the good info on atf! One located in sandusky ,ohio off us 250 heading north off state route 2, it is on the east side of road. In small store outlet complex.

I just searched again for an Android app with no luck, but I did find a generic health club locator app that looks workable. I downloaded it and immediately found the atf near where I am now...so that'll do

No I am not an ATF member. After reading all the good advice here on EO, i will be joining here within the next 2 weeks. I will be hitting the road again, and need to find a gym on occasion to work out etc.. ATF is just like 1.5 miles from my apartment. I like the fact you can find them on the road and are able to use them anytime of the day. I will not be renewing my membership at our local racquet club. Nice club but limited hours and some other issues also to deal with etc..

Welcome to the club, so to speak. It is fun to see Open Forum members joining the same fitness club. I hope you find it to be as satisfying and beneficial as Diane and I have. We have come to love these gyms. They have changed our on-road routine and our health for the better.

About joining in two weeks, you might want to join right away. It takes 30 days for your key to work in all the gyms. You can use any gym during staffed hours immediately after joining but your key will not work after hours in gyms other than your home gym for 30 days. Joining now puts you that much closer to 24/7 access to all locations.

ATF has been one of the best investments I‘ve made since starting this career/vacation/camping trip/fitness Trail..but yeah the first thirty days are the worst...sooner you start the better.

It says "find a gym". There is also a free 7 day trial available on their site. Worth looking into if your considering this club.

I walked into the Fredericksburg, VA, club during staffed hours and set off an alarm. Seeing the guy in the office looking at me I went to him.

"Did I set off that alarm?"

"Yeah, but you're fine. Sometimes when you come through with a bag it thinks you are two people."

"OK"

Looking at his computer screen, "You're from Minnesota?"

"Yes"

"Are you in town for a couple of days?"

"No. My wife and I are all over the country all the time. We're truckers. The next club we use will be a thousand miles away."

"Cool!"

With that I nodded and went on to work out and shower.

Having used a number of clubs in a number of states, Diane and I are finding it very easy to park and feel welcome.

The Anytime Fitness company ten year anniversary is tomorrow, October 10. They are running a one-day sale on 10/10 in which you can join for $10. I do not know exactly what that $10 buys but if you have been thinking about joining this fitness club, tomorrow might be a good day to do so.

I joined last week for $10. I went in and talked with then and it was going to be $90 to start and he told me about that special. I explained I drive over the road and wouldn't be able to make that special. Being a nice guy he enrolled me for that price. The $10 buys your first month and they wave the startup costs. The ATF I will be using is when home is 0.2 of a mile from my house and has enough room to park a truck on the street beside it, that is where t/t park when they come home. I was very impressed by this facility.
