HEY OVM, What do you say that we get several million illegal Mexican immigrants to follow that rule?? Layoutshooter
When I go to Canada I look at it like I'm a guest of their country, and I behave accordingly. They don't have to let me in, so if they do, the least I could do is respect my host.Like it or not...bottom line is...it's a law.

Here’s a thought about the speed limiter issue for Canadian loads. If your truck engine is under warranty and Canadian officials plug into your ECM to check the speed setting and something goes wrong and your ECM gets fried, who pays for the repair/replacement of the ECM?
If someone other than an authorized dealer or service center hooks up to your ECM and damages it, would the OEM warranty cover it, or will they say the warranty is voided because a non-authorized facility, in this case the Canadian government damaged the unit? Will the Canadian government pay for the repair/replacement of the ECM? I kind of doubt it. That being the case, guess who is stuck with the very large bill for a new ECM?
In my humble opinion this is one more reason not to run in Canada while the speed limiter law is in effect. Maybe if the carrier will step up and say they will cover the cost of any damages done to your vehicle by the Canadian government hooking up to your ECM, and will pay each time you have to have a shop set your ECM to run in Canada, then pay to have it reset when you leave Canada, I might consider running Canadian loads.
Another thought is that maybe all U.S. carriers say to Canada, if you want your goods shipped rescind the speed limiter law, or make U.S. based trucks exempt from the Canadian law on speed limiters. I really don’t see this happening, so for now I guess it’s going to be every contractor doing what’s best for his bottom line.
I think us contractors really have to look into the warranty issue before making a decision about running in Canada. I for one will not let anyone hook into my ECM if they will not cover any damages it might do.
What’s the next thing Canada is going to do to us? Maybe we will have to show them our underwear don’t have any skid marks in them.
Well, that's the thing, at least with me. I have a real problem with someone telling me that I'm lying without them having a reason for saying so.Maybe I should show them as much respect as they show me for my ability to follow a speed law without an on-board nanny. LOL.
