A Thought about Speed Limiters

I can understand why you and others don't like it...BUT it's business not personal.

If all Fedex operators chose not to cross it will create a glut of trucks on this side of the border hurting your bottomline even more......As Fedex is aggressively recruiting in Canada now...it could get even slower for US trucks....As Canadin plated trucks will get a first out to go back home before a US truck.....

I'm not getting all rankled Turtle. All these posts on the subject is food for thought. personally, I won't have my ecm plugged into by antone but a authorized repair shop while while my engine is under warranty. I don't care if the odds are a trillion to one, there is still the one hanging out there.

Another thing is let Canada regulate trucks tagged in Canada. Why should they have the ability to extend the speed limiter law to U.S. tagged vehicles Just because the can get away with it? That just don't get it as far as I'm concerned.

I WILL NOT BOW TO THEIR SPEED LIMITER LAW.

I did not mean only expediters, I mean all trucks. I know this is not personal, but it is not business. It is just dangerous. I can say one thing, in my not so humble opinion, the governments in ON and QC suck as bad as ours do. Layoutshooter

When was the last BIG demonstration by truckers? Most of the OTR carriers have a Canadian division....won't hurt them at all...

I know, I just hate things like this. They serve no good purpose and threaten safety and lives. Our world is not headed in a very good direction. Layoutshooter

.

Great idea! Can I please be exempt from US regulations with my Canadian tagged truck?

It's a dumb law, within 12 months this won't be a big deal for any of us, it's the Ontario government, they can't do anything right and rarely have the money to fund any of these "pet" or "lobbyist" generated rules.

We will still be stuck with it. They will still enforce it and I will still have few good choices because of it. Layoutshooter

that doesn't make sense.....that is like saying why does American laws apply to Canadian trucks while in the US.....

BTW I don't like the limiter law either even though it does not apply to me....it is dangerous and ill thought out by politicians and the idiots from the Ont trucking Association....

No you can't be exempt, but you don't have to run in th U.S. if you don't like the rules and regulations/

You see, I was taught to drive the old fashioned way. When I started my "formal" driver training at 15 (my dad started me at more like 12 on backwoods roads and boats) I was taught the following "truths" as my drivers ed teacher put it.

There are Four main tools to avoiding an accident.

1. Your brain. Pay attention and watch ahead. Try to avoid situations that may lead to trouble.

2. Your brakes, be ready to use them fast and often.

3. Your steering wheel, always try to steer out of trouble if you can.

AND

4. Your Accelerator, there will be many occasions where speeding up will get you out of a potentially dangerous situation.

That is how I was taught back in 1966. I still try to drive by those 4 truths. Thank you ON and QC for leaving me only 3. Layoutshooter

Can we find a way to tax you on the other three?

LOL!!!! I am sure that you will, if our FEDS don't come up with a way to first. I can't wait to see all the new taxes that will show up down here soon. Like the $50 per tire excise they were talking about on the radio or the new and exciting $12,000 "sin" tax on new heavy trucks or my favorite, the proposed 24.9 cent per gallon increase in the diesel tax. What fun!!!!!

Nope not much of a risk taker since my tour of duty in Vietnam and my 25 years as a professional firefighter.
