Regardless of the statistics and analyses of scholars, public opinion polls, etc. I have a hunch that one thing the most successful presidents have had in common is the ability to surround themselves with very good advisors and administrators. We don't yet know who BHO will have in his cabinet, but the selection of Rahm Emmanuel as Chief of Staff and John Podesta in charge of his search committee (both Clinton retreads) should give us an indication as to which way he's leaning. Regarding advisors and close confidants, these are the ones the public won't see - but we know the individuals who have filled these rolls in the past and there's no reason to believe he won't turn to them in the future; Rev. Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers - everybody knows the list, and it's comprised of radical liberals. Of course let's not forget his charming wife - don't think for a minute she won't have a considerable influence on his governing philosophy. It would seem that an individual that's as unprepared and inexperienced as Obama will have to lean heavily on these people when it comes time to make the tough decisions. It's hard to muster any confidence in what his inner circle will look like, much less govern like. My guess is that in the final analysis this administration will look a lot more like that of Carter than of Clinton, and its effectiveness will be Carteresque at best.

Many of the preceding comments explain why those of us who objected to Bush's agenda were always being accused of "hating Bush".....This is what real hate looks like, and it's scary potatoes indeed.
PS I got a lot of emails denouncing & ridiculing Obama during the election, (and Hilary Clinton, too, till she was defeated) but the funny thing is, I never saw a single one that treated John McCain with the same total lack of respect. Not one.

Never got one from me!! McCain sucked!! NOt as bad as Osama Obama but he sucked. Clinton was a pig. Carter was an idiot. Reagan had a clue but only a small one. None has the backround I have. If you could get Clinton or Carter or Obama (now that he has access to classified information) to tell the REAL truth about what is going on you would be scared of your wits. Reagan is dead or he MIGHT have laid out what is really going on. Clinton was a professional liar and Carter was a fool who could not keep rabbits away. We have only ONE chance, get rid of them all or give up our way of life. Obama has no idea what is going in the world. Ideals mean nothing if you are dead. I ran into several of my Iraqi friends the other day. ( I will NOT give you names or places) They barely escaped Saddam's murder squads. I have known them for almost 8 years. Many of them worked in "mathimatics" for the U.S. Army. They helped the U.S. Army "subtract" certain scum from the face of the earth and increase our oxygen supply. They asked me why American's were so willing to give up our freedom after sooo many have died to defend it. I had no answer. They thanked me, my son, my nephew and President Bush for looking out for them and all freedom loving people.
I don't care what you think of me or my ideas'. I did my best. Too bad most of you did not.

Personally, I've always thought McCain was and is a jerk. The sacrifices he's made for his country are to be commended, and his military service was honorable. However, he's been a mediocre senator all these years and he was a lousy presidential candidate - that's why he lost, trying to be attractive to Rockefeller Republicans and Hillary castoffs and in the process lost his conservative base. Regarding the jerk factor, he did a pretty good job of concealing this during the campaign, but the aftermath has been distasteful to say the least. How hypocritical is it that his lackeys should be blaming Sarah Palin for his defeat with all the sleazy leaks and outright lies being spread to the media after the voting was over? She was the only factor that kept his anemic campaign from being belly-up before October. His lousy temperment has been well-known around Washington for years, and this post-mortem is just more evidence of his vindictiveness. I held my nose and voted for him, believing him to be the lesser of the two evils and the liklihood of him being a one-term president. Hopefully, the GOP can get their act together and come up with a better candidate in 2012 - the certainly couldn't do much worse.
I agree. Four years of Obama will keep, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, and Rush Limbaugh in business. Higher ratings, more stories to promote, and they will play off of everyones fears and get paid a lot of $!

Obviously you don't listen to right wing radio. It's not all fear they preach. A lot of us get news from them that ppl who dive into the status quo media wouldn't get. It was the right wing news 'whackos' who rallied the listeners, who flooded Congress with phone calls before the amnesty bill. THAT'S why it wasn't passed! Besides... without them, we wouldn't know what to expect with Obama. At least the listeners didn't vote blind.
Try listening to Dennis Pragar, Michael Medved, Mike Bennet and Laura Ingraham. Along with Sean Hannity they provide a less rabid presentation than Rush and Michael Savage. It's amazing what you get when you are getting the news and not a lot of seasoning and translating.

Don't care for Hannity much anymore. He sounds like a broken record. I like Andrew Wilkow for his analytical thought, Mark Levin for entertainment, and Mike Church for his constitutional views and humor.
Have you noticed the main stream media is reporting FLUFFY news of obumer and all is WELL-while the last 8 yrs. it's been RABIT ATTACK of BUSH/America-- HATE the PRESIDENT/ AMERICA IS RACIST/BLOOD THIRSTY WORLD HATES US PERIOD!! and in YOUR face-- IRAN is setting up 3,000 additional centrifuges...I can't help but notice -- ALL THE CLINTONISTA'S IN OBUMER'S CABINET SPELLS-- HE NEEDS HELP AND EXPERIENCE-- BECAUSE HE HAS NONE!! The high expectations were there for Clinton as well. It wasn't until the 'Republican Revolution' of 94 that turned his fortunes, and the economy, around. Of course, he got all the credit, too. That's why I'd rather Obama have his 4 yrs, and Congress along with him. That way, they'll share the same fate - good or bad. No Republicans to blame for their messes, or false accolades for Republican achievements.
