    Looking for a Driver

Did you settle on a driver? If so how is it going so far? I'm getting close to hiring one and want to follow the lead of what you did here

    XM Radio for my driver

I am asking so many questions in order to avoid getting the wrong person in place. The advice I have received from several fleet owners and drivers has helped to shape my business plan I am not driving now- I am starting a small business to supplement my income. I am starting with 1 sprinter...

    XM Radio for my driver

How did you two find each other? Why did he sell his vans? Did he pay the standard 40% and keep fsc? I don't mean to offend by drilling you with questions, but want to learn as much as I can from the experience of others. Any other drivers or fleet owners please add your $0.02

    XM Radio for my driver

Debit cards and cash?? Fuel cards limited to fuel and showers and EZ Pass for my driver. GottaGo, you must have treated your owner well- I have heard a couple of stories of food/sundries passed as fuel on debit cards at truck stops Wolfeman- thanks for the continued advice! I plan on being on...

    Pallet size?

Thanks. I keep looking at 3500 sprinters because of gvwr, but this confirms that the 2500 is more useful

    Pallet size?

This may be an extremely rookie question, but what is the most common skid size people are seeing? 42x48, 42x40, 48x48? Thanks

    XM Radio for my driver

I oversee about 15 people at my full-time job and I find that the more I invest in them (not just financially- but show that I care about them as people) the better performance I get out of them. I expect a lot from my team, but I give a lot in return. I am in the process of looking for a driver...

    XM Radio for my driver

I am a soon to be fleet owner getting my documentation in order. Is XM radio appealing to sprinter drivers? I am looking at ways beyond the 40% linehaul to attract a reliable, motivated driver.

    Questions for fleet owners/drivers

Good input on here- thanks! By starting with 1 van I am simply looking to supplement my income, not make an exclusive living from it. I work full time and will continue to do so. I understand the importance of a reliable driver that will stay in service and want that person to have financial...

    Questions for fleet owners/drivers

I posted something simiar in newbee forum. I want to pay per mile with a performance bonus that starts at 5k miles per month. Double loads = double miles and paid approved deadhead as well. Any thoughts from drivers or fleet operators on this will help. The van will be a sprinter with a sleeper

    Sprinter 2500 vs 3500

Is your sprinter made by Dodge? All the spec sheets I have seen for the dodge 3500 don't change the gvwr until 2007. Also- what mpg are you getting?

    Driver Pay

The reason for a structure is to attract a hotshot driver. A driver that runs 10k miles/month (I know that is in the top 10%) will gross $4900 and not be responsible for fuel or tolls.

    Driver Pay

I pay fuel and tolls. My friend has a van with a slacker driver that turns down loads and regularly deadheads home. With this structure if I am making money so is the driver, but with low miles I am losing $ so the driver can't expect to rake in $. The dispatchers I have talked to say that...

    Sprinter 2500 vs 3500

If the gvwr is the same then the added weight of the 3500 would reduce cargo capacity. Thanks for walking me through. The search is on for a low mileage 06 2500 140" wheelbase high top!

    Driver Pay

I am getting ready to hire a driver for a Sprinter van. Because the vans income is based on the drivers willingness to take loads I want to do a performance pay structure. 40cents/mile (including APPROVED deadhead) and high mileage monthly bonus structure of $300 $600 or $900 for 6k 8k 10k miles...

    Sprinter 2500 vs 3500

As I look deeper in to it the gvwr does not change from the 2500 to the 3500 until the 2007 model year. Correct me if I am wrong.
