Looking for a Driver

Not sure where to put this, but I'll put it here for now.

I am looking to put a solo driver in my CV..I am NOT looking to get someone from a "classified ad", what i am looking for is someone that is referred from someone that is in this industry that you would trust with your truck.

I am not offering the typical 60/40 or 40/60. This is truly a one of a kind offer and the chance for someone that wants to hustle to make real good money driving for a O/O and also a chance to end up owning the van in a short time.

I have no problem explaining what this entails to anyone before they refer anyone, so if you have questions, PM me and I'll give you my phone # and we can talk...if you simply want to refer someone, send them my way...this is a very good opportunity for someone.

The Van will saty on at Load 1...

I want to thank everyone who contacted me in the last 2 days about filling the drivers seat in my van...We will be making a decision my mid week next week and be in touch...

I have to say, anyone that needs a driver and doesn't want to deal with the unknowns of a classified ad...this works...i would not have any problems with putting any of the people that were referred to me or those that contacted me on their own into a truck...the bad part is i only have 1 van...

Did you settle on a driver? If so how is it going so far? I'm getting close to hiring one and want to follow the lead of what you did here

That's why Chef put the inquiry here and not in the Classifieds. He wanted someone to refer someone, not get ****-a-mainey from who knows where.

I did not know that was a bad word. Shame on me.

LOL, this thread is over a year old and i missed the "drive by insult"...oh well...since this thread has been brought back up, I'll update it. We put a driverin the van and had to take it back 7 months later because he just couldn't fulfill his end of the deal...we then put another driver in it with 2 weeks of taking it back...that was 6 months ago...Today I signed the title over to that driver, he now owns the van he rented and made money with for 6 months. He has now has his own van and will get an immediate weekly raise in his net income....

And along the same lines, we did this driver search this way asking for referrals instead of running a ad in the classifed because we wanted someone that the people here in the industry and part of this community knew and had the faith in to refer...while we did have a problem with the 1st driver, it was as much my problem for dealing on emotion instead of professional business methods. The 2nd driver worked out great because we did this as professionals and, we also took one of the names from the list of those referred to us and he is now driving my son inlaws sprinter and both parties are more then satisfied....

So yes there are people out here that will live up to their contacted responsiblities and do a great job and for those that refered them, thank you for your faith in those people and your referrals...

And that's what EO is all about - helping expediters to grow and be successful in their business!

Hey LilJoe, and Lawrence!! When i put this post up, i was told in a few PM's that "there is a Help Wanted classifed" you know...But I wanted exactly what Lawrence spoke of..i wanted the help of kowledgable expediters and their "referrals"..I wanted one of their friends, someone they trusted and would out in their own truck...it worked...yea it took 2 drivers to get the situation handled but the 1st driver didn't work out because of my mistake in not using what i sit out to do as i wanted, my decision wasn't based on business, it was an emotional decision...but the 2nd driver, that worked great and he now owns the van.

We didn't set out to and still don't want to be a Fleet owner....I bought a new Cargo Max and my CV was going to sit..the miles that were on it took it out of the retail market to sell for anything other then Expediting...so we decided to "put someone in business" and make them a O/O over a short period of "renting" the van....The 2nd driver ran the van for 6 months and with a unique "rental" not the typical 60/40 or 40/60 split..it was a simple rental payment each week for 6 months...and at the end of the period I turned the title over to him....It worked great once I had the right driver.

But without EO, and having a large base of people in the industry to draw from, id have had to go about this in a different way...I got more referrals from people here then I ever would have gotten inquiries from a classified ad, it was unbelieveable...yea we got people inquiring themselves about driving the van themselves and that was fine, but what we found was those that inquiried to drive it themselves, we're active members here and known and something we would have felt ok with also.

The mistake i made was after asking for referrals, and the one i chose was a referral, i based my decision on "helping" someone more then a "business" decision, i made an "emotional" decision....that bite me in the butt because i looked past things and didn't do enough "looking at the individual" before contracting with him...even the person that referred him to me has apologied endlessly as we both were fooled...BUT, the 2nd person, we did it right and it all worked good, and that was a direct line back to EO.....

EO made it possible for me to get someone in that van, for me to make money off of it and for that person to not only make money and a living, but to become and owner. I talked to his wife a few days after everything was done and he had changed everything over at the carrier from my name to his, when i was done, he called his wife and told her, "we now own our own business"...she said he sounded like a kid with a new toy.......we all benefited and it was a good experience..

So yea Lawrence, EO did exactly what you set it up to be, a place that is- "helping expediters to grow and be successful in their business!"

Just a quick note on this thread...
the 1st driver we put in the van didn't work out. After putting another driver in it ( a EO member), he now owns the van...

He worked hard and per the contract at the end of the agreed time, I turned the title over to him...He went from driver to owner...

So yea again, EO was the place that helped me expand my businessand then helped someone start their own business. Thanks Lawrence...
