Sorry you hit a cow, hope the cow is alright. :p

    Occupy Wall Street?

Cheri, the point is that we can get along without those companies that are using the excuse that they have to be large to be innovative and bring the consumer what they want. There is not one industry that has to have to be so large to make a profit for their stock holders or be beneficial to...

    Re: Romney Debate

Yep he was born in Michigan, his father George Romney was governor of the state and head of AMC for a while, among being a lobbyist. His son, Mitt is the same type of cut from the same cloth is sometimes critical of the auto industry that he grew up around. He knows the game, he knows what's...

That Sure Does Seem Expensive !

That's about the quote I got. I would ditch the new van - especially the GM product - and get something that is 3 years old. Insure it for replacement cost and see what the price is going to be.

    speed limiter

Nope I'm not gripping about Canada, I am gripping about the trucks from Canada who can't read our speedlimit signs. 60? I clocked one on my trip home today at 83.

    Need more truck advice.

Noise is sometimes caused by how the gear set is cut, if it is cut on worn tooling, it may have an out of tolerance problem on the gear set. Even OEM replacement stuff can be part of a secondary level QA group that is sold as replacement sets but not for production.

    Jacking truck prices up.

I have seen some real junk on the market, worn out trucks that should be scrapped because the dealer never collected a history or knows the condition of the truck. This may be a supply and demand thing with what Cheri said as the problem, demand for those to get into this business. What puzzles...

Trucker Beaten, Load Hijacked, Truck Burned

T-Hawk, what?? Were you educated in a public school? That's not the st louis arch, thats the Arch of triumph in NYC and those are bloombergs soldiers who were hired to patrol the city to find people eating food with transfat.

Rising Driver Turnover Rate Threatens Shippers

I think the fact that the effects of CSA will be slow in appearing [points take some time to accumulate, followed by gathering statistics for comparison to pre CSA conditions] is the main reason it was implemented in such a hurry that it overlooks some extremely important considerations...

    Another SAD Fedex driver....sob sob

Thanks for posting all of that, now Phil can see it. By the way, maybe read all those thousands of LS posts on the forum ... kind of missing something there aren't ya' ... just saying ...

    Occupy Wall Street?

You know Cheri, I understand what you are getting at and all that but in your support can you name one product or company or industry that has to be large to make a competitive product for the consumer? Another way to put this, is there any reason why we have to have mega-companies at all?

    Health Insurance - FDCC

No one has or offers health insurance because that means you are an employee. A few brokers deals with insurers but they can not take your money and pass it on.

We O/O's have to MAKE a profit

Yeah I know but it seems that the money is there and will be there but the carriers don't want to put the effort into getting it. The other night I had one guy over the house who works for one of these expediting companies and he was all giddy that he got an offer for $1.45 a mile for the load...

Trucker Beaten, Load Hijacked, Truck Burned

NO offense there phil but the link doesn't work and I notice you have chrome. Try this one; Trucker beaten up by drug cartel for his limes This is an ongoing problem and until we decide what is more important in this country, we will continue to have these issues.

We O/O's have to MAKE a profit

Well that would be all great, making more money is but until the rates gain some in this market, many still accept that $1.60 is a good thing.

Rising Driver Turnover Rate Threatens Shippers

Not in the sense of what turnover is. I think that the industry for the longest time has been using bottom of the barrel drivers and pushing them through their system to get them licensed and then when they screw up, mainly because of the recruiting and training methods used, they are dumped...

Rising Driver Turnover Rate Threatens Shippers

What looming csa? it is here and has been but I don't see the massive cleaning house or huge increase in idle (driverless) trucks, do you?

    Jacking truck prices up.

They see an increase in people getting into this business and is poised to make up for the loses they incurred from the past two years. Got to give them that but so far, the price of trucks I've seen have been steady outside of this niche market. I'm wondering if this work is going to support...

Canada Schneider Speeds Intermodal Trade With Canada

There are no plans to enlarge the rail tunnel between Detroit and Canada and I don't think there is a plan to put a rail connection up near the blue water bridge. Overall this won't lessen the need for trucks in cross border work in the near term but because rail is fighting for the work and...
