If you only need heat, you may just want to put in an air heater (Espar, Webasto, etc.) to heat the unit overnight - much less expensive than an APU. And if your electrical needs are modest, consider some AGM batteries and an inverter. Even with the two above it will probably be way less than...

Similar experience here on the glass as TJ - my son had to have one replaced on his 2004 and it was pretty reasonable. If that chip isn't all that big you should see about having it repaired rather than replaced - Safelite can do it for around $50 ..... if it isn't huge.
