    Signage and Advertising

Greg, Thanks - I'd definitely appreciate it if you can steer me to those bulletins. Got it on the asking five different people ..... it kinda blew me away when the MSP website referred me to another (apparently non-profit, non-governmental) organization's website ..... for answers about the...

    Signage and Advertising

"Again, anyone with a van that has a GVW over 5000lbs needs to be identified. Which if I remember is any GMC 2500 or Ford E250 van." After doing a little further research I found the following in the 10th addition of the MCTS Guidebook: All commercial vehicles registered in Michigan with a...

    Signage and Advertising

Greg, I appareciate your clarifications - and I don't doubt them in the least - unfortunately the Michigan Center for Truck Safety website is somewhat incomplete and misleading, apparently. I just got off the phone with the MSP, trying to ask them what the requirements were to scale - they...

    Signage and Advertising

Some states like Michigan and Alabama may require you to stop at weigh stations. If one is under 10K and is not transporting placardable amounts of HazMat, one is not considered to be a Commercial Motor Vehicle in the state of Michigan, under Michigan law. Therefore, one is not required to...

    E-Track equipment for Sprinter

I have a pair of 12' and a pair of 20' e-track ratchet straps - I use the 12' straps at a ratio of about 50 to 1 over the 20' ones. I'd actually prefer to have another pair of 12' straps. I also have three 12' cam buckle type e-track straps ..... I use these even less frequently than the 20'...

    Sprinter CB placement

I didn't want to put holes in my dash so what I did was to take the center vent cover above the radio off and punch out two holes in it for the mounting bolts for a CB bracket. The vent cover is easily replacable and is (relatively) low-cost. The mounting location is easily reachable for...

    Sprinter Stereo Speakers

I used JL Audio TR400 CXi's - sound quality is much improved but as Turtle mentions you aren't going to get a ton of bass of these or any similar speaker. I elected to cement mine in with silicone rubber - which eliminates any rattling when the radio is turned up to max volume.

    Jawbone

I got one about a week or two ago. I had been somewhat aware of them for some time prior to that - but really only became fully aware of the noise-cancelling technology about a month ago when a friend pointed me to their website and I saw the video (http://www.jawbone.com/meet.html), which is...

    Logging Question

John, Yup - that's correct - it's all in the sticker. And yes, for all practical purposes, they are the same vehicle (save for some of the specific spec'ing) - for instance, the total axle capacity for the 10K Penske van I mentioned is like 11,400 combined.

    Logging Question

    >I have seen these cube vans with >dual rear wheels and I think that means the manufacturers >stick with will GVWR over 10001 lbs. Am I mistaken? Yes ..... and no. Generally speaking, if it has dual rears it will be over 10K GVWR ..... unless it is an ex-fleet vehicle. The only ones I have...

    new Sprinter

Leo, You are entirely correct in your thinking. I have no idea whether or not the terminology is correct or not (perhaps static and dynamic loading would be the correct terms ?) ...... but a static weight or load is certainly not the same as a force generated by a mass in motion which is...

    new Sprinter

Storms, The factory D-Rings are rated (at least for 2006 and earlier model years) for 3687.158 foot pounds of torque (500 decanewtons) Spreading the load over two rings (with a single cargo strap) would yield a max load securement value of 7374 lbs. Spreading the load over four rings (using...

Wal-Mart credits a fuel additive mix

OVM, No I don't - in fact I haven't used anything in the Sprinter as of yet .... maybe I should though ....... I do use regular Power Service (white bottle) in the 275 gallon tank of off-road diesel that we have here for our tractor (agricultural tractor, that is) - mainly as a biocide to keep...

    new Sprinter

I used plywood on the floor of mine - I spent alot of time cutting and fitting it, screwing it down with countersunk screws, and coating it with some really good polyurethane (gloss Varathane, oil-based, 5 or 6 coats) Unfortunately it has gotten chewed up pretty bad - largely my fault because I...

    Nitrogen inflation improves tread life

I just called the Hartville location of Terry's Tire Town (local chain in noertheast Ohio) to see how much they would charge to fill four tires. I knew that they offered it having drove by several of their locations that advertised it on their signage. A very pleasant lady (Tina) answered the...

If you go the AGM route there are a couple of very informative posts here on EO made by "Turtle" about his battery/inverter setup and installation .... well worth the read. Unfortunately I don't have a link to them handy ...... ..... Ken ?
