    The Burning Fire in Expediting

I never thought I would ever return to the wonderful world of expediting, but there is just something so exciting about waking up in Spring Lake, MI and going to sleep in Fountain Inn, SC in the same day.

    Attn, recruiters for ALL companies!

John, What is your criterion for awarding loads posted on the Alliance? I have a business associate that has bid numerous loads posted by Load 1 and he has never been awarded the first load. His rates are very competitive, so there must be some aspect of your methodology in awarding...

    Finally the NEW 2010 Sprinter...

I love Sprinters, but I am too cheap to own one.

    Sprinter Information

That I understand, but you would think someone in the tri-state area would be a dealer. I would appreciate it if you find a Mercedes dealer in OH-MI-IN area that carries the Sprinter.

    Sprinter Survey

Turtle, How would you know if your carrier wasn't sending 3 skid load offers to other units in the area your are located? There is no logical reason to send you a 3 skid offer, because your capacity shows on their screen and you would show as a 2 skid unit. I completely agree with the...

    Finally the NEW 2010 Sprinter...

Actually, they do offer the basis to compete with the Sprinter and at a cost that is $10,000 less. You can....ah, never mind it would take too long to explain. Coming soon to a truck stop near you.

    Sprinter Information

I called several Mercedes dealers in Cincinnati - Dayton - Columbus. One guy that answered did not even know Mercedes was going to start selling the Sprinter here in the U.S. I have yet to find a Mercedes dealer that has a Sprinter for sale. What's up with that?

    Interesting load cancellation

Yep. Most carriers will continue to bid the load if they can put it on a leased unit in their fleet. It is simply a business decision their part. The colonel has right. To be safe, the load needs to be close and ready now!

    DOT/Trooper

Thank you Turtle! It is simply a matter of basic physics; mass and force. The danger of a fatal accident is markedly increased in direct proportion to the size and weight of the offending vehicle. I have yet to see a under 10,001 lb GVWR cargo van flipped over on its side and lying in the...

    1 ton or 3/4 ton?

Greg, I am only stating what a Master Technician at GM told me after a drive train shop in Toledo had initially told me exactly the same thing when I had asked them about changing the gearing.

    1 ton or 3/4 ton?

I thought about changing the differential to a lower ratio on the 2008 chassis, but GM told me that it would adversely affect the transmission shift points, because the ECM's could no longer be "Reflashed" after 2007 to accept the programming to make it work correctly. According to GM it would...

4 Petro travel centers no longer

Ditto on the terrible coffee. I make my own hot water for grits and oatmeal. The hot water taps on coffee machines taste musty to me. Being a cube van, I would use my fuel credits and shower at the J in Knoxville, but eat at the Petro across the road.

    February 2010 Location

Still sitting at home. Chassis was built on Thursday. Supposedly on its way to Buffalo for the cargo box. Hopefully, it will be done before the 15th as I have to turn over the house to the new owner no later than the 20th.

New DOT Rule - No Texting

It should be mandatory in every state: No texting and only "hands free" phone communication.

    Isolators

Basically, a separator is a mechanical device and an isolator is an electronic device. A separator is simply a switch. This device does not allow for regulated current flow. If you have discharged auxiliary batteries as soon as the separator (i.e. solenoid) closes shortly after you start the...

    Prayer Request

My GM chassis is scheduled to be built this week. I covet your prayers and ask that you pray that God will manifest wisdom and ability beyond their means in those who will assemble this truck, those who will build and install the cargo box and those who will install the Espar heater and...

    Isolators

Moot, My 06 was a Duramax and both of my 08's were gassers. I believe the Duramax to be a great engine, but the ability to get service coupled with the increased regular maintenance costs have kept me focused on the 6.0L. Moreover, GM's decision to offer the 6 speed tranny and a 3.43...
