    Moving west

At a recent ExpeditersOnline workshop, Diane and I watched recruiters from several companies introduce themselves and their companies to the attendees. Every one of them said they service 48 states and Canada and every one of them spoke the truth. But HOW they service 48 states and Canada and...

panther and owners pulling trucks out

You do not have to answer these questions in public. I offer them only as food for thought. If your co-driver is the source of stress, there may be nothing wrong with Panther at all. That's where sorting things out can help.

panther and owners pulling trucks out

You are citing quantitative (numbers) and qualitative (emotions) factors. If I was in your shoes, I would want to get better information. Yes, you are seeing fewer trucks but has the fleet actually declined in size? Try to find out what the actual fleet count is and how that compares to the...

    Interesting Blog

The team that writes that blog introduced themselves to Diane and me one day at a truck stop. Long time readers of my blog, they spotted us and came by to say hi. They drive a big-rig and were leased to Forward Air at the time. They presented themselves well and impressed us as true...

    Health Insurance - FDCC

More savvy still for Marsh to grab the healthinsurance.com URL, provide good content and channel traffic like they do. Sharp operators, those folks. Other sites of interest to people shopping for health insurance include ehealthinsurance.com and healthinsuranceusa.com, but what a difference a...

    Health Insurance - FDCC

Notice that I edited my post above to eliminate reference to a guess about referral fees. When I discovered that you can type anything ahead of "healthinsurance.com" (anything.healthinsurance.com) and get referred to that web site, the referral fee theory was discarded.

    Health Insurance - FDCC

I noticed that too. Yet when I click the link that was provided to us by FedEx in 2008, it takes us to the identical web site without customcritical appearing in the URL. The most recent URL provided by FCC is customcritical.healthinsurance.com. The one provided in 2008 is...

    Fun with deputies

Regarding limiting van drivers for safety reasons, carriers vary on their practices, do they not? Again, I have paid little attention to vans in the past, which is why I have to ask the question. Am I correct in believing that FedEx Custom Critical and Panther limit the drive time and...

    Health Insurance - FDCC

Thank you, Dreamer. That is the simple answer to the simple question I was trying to obtain. People treat information in one of two ways. This little radio ditty is a bit off topic but explains well the two approaches to information seen in this thread. Regarding the yes/no answer to health...

    Health Insurance - FDCC

It is the weekend so it will be Monday at the earliest before I am able to discuss this with people at FDCC. Information received so far indicates that "Access to Health Insurance" means nothing more than a link to a web site and a telephone number to an insurance broker that makes itself...

    Health Insurance - FDCC

Since it has come to this, I have a call in to recruiting. Will also send a message to media relations with a link to this thread and a copy of the ad, and ask them for an official explaination of "Access to Health Insurance." I am not a company spokesperson, but am capable of accurately and...

    Health Insurance - FDCC

Do you know the answer to the question? The question is not about a controversial subject. It is not a trade secret. It is not insider information. Why are you so mum?

    Health Insurance - FDCC

I read your post in the FedEx forum about health insurance. FedEx Custom Critical is advertising, right now, in trucking publications "Access to Health Insurance." Are you saying that it is inappropriate for members of the general public who read these publications to ask what the company...

You’re going to tow my truck where?

Soap box speeches made about standing up for your rights in the face of a police officer are easily made in an open forum but it is something quite different when you are on the ground with one, face-to-face, alone, and he or she is the one with the gun, hand cuffs and power to detain or delay...

Michigan front lic.plate for straight truck

They gave us two but we are in a straight truck. Maybe it is different for tractors. I don't know. My bad for lumping all CMVs together and making an assumption.

    Health Insurance - FDCC

It does not offend me that FedEx Custom Critical advertises "Access to Health Insurance." It puzzles me that no one can explain what it means.

    Health Insurance - FDCC

I would hope the company would be more serious than that. Health insurance is an important topic to many people, especially those who do not now have it. It would be a very cruel thing to do to people to advertise access to health insurance and then hand them a list of web sites when they...

    Health Insurance - FDCC

No info yet on FedEx Custom Critical's advertised "Access to Health Insurance." I presume Azcot is busy absorbing new information and possibly running, as new contractors often are immediately after orientation. That is understandable. No contractor has risen to provide supporting information...

    Fun with deputies

I think I understand the point you and Turtle make but it makes no sense to me that a van driver's life is a throw-away life while a truck driver's life is protected (HOS regulated).
