How Expediting has changed from 20 years ago.

How many miles a week did you run back then? How many per year? Were there any coast to coast runs? Weren't most of the runs automotive? Any loads to Laredo? I was under the impression that most of the loads were short (200-300 miles) into and out of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.

    Eaton fuller smart shift.

And when it does act up the first thing you should do is disconnect your battery cables for 10 minutes. This gives the computer time to reset.

    Eaton fuller smart shift.

We have an Eaton ultra shift and get our transmission oil changed about every 200,000 miles. It has over a million miles on it and is working fine now that we had the range valve and transmission control unit replaced this week.

    Question about 34 hr restart....

While doing a restart you are either off duty or in the sleeper. You do not have to be out of service. You can accept a load and interrupt the restart if you have the available hours to run the load. Taking yourself out of service with your carrier means you are not available for loads. Having...

How Expediting has changed from 20 years ago.

If we could get a rate of $4 per mile today there would be 10 times more people trying to get into expediting. There are already to many vans and straight trucks seem to be just about at capacity. Our rates are low due to supply and demand. And people who run cheap freight.

How Expediting has changed from 20 years ago.

20 years ago it was 1993. Cell phones or car phones were available back then. I had one for my construction business. With the money people were making in those days it seems they could afford it. Why didn't they have them? Hotel rooms for $3? Where? I remember paying $25 around that time for a...

    Range Valve

I ended up having to DH home from Baton Rouge to get it fixed. No shop within 300 miles could get to it. Since my local shop doesn't have the diagnostics I had to take it to the Freightliner dealer here in Lake City. Turns out it was a bad Transmission Control Unit and a bad Range Valve. Total...

I would say under the drivers seat near the door is about a conspicuous as you can get. Open the door and you are staring at it.

    CARB may loosen rules

As long as the truck is legal why would the carrier care?

    Changing drivers and HOS

When changing drivers is it necessary for the new driver to do a 15 minute pretrip? We do, but not sure if it is required. The other driver does a post trip and a VIR.

    CARB may loosen rules

Wow, this is great news. We would be fine with the 5000 mile rule.

    Range Valve

Has anyone replaced the range valve on an Eaton Ultrashift? What did it cost? All of the shops in the area are backed up and can't get to it for about a week. I may have to do it myself. Looks like 4 bolts and an electrical connection. Sent from my EVO using EO Forums mobile app

Health Insurance for Expediters; What do You See?

Stop by any VA medical facility and ask them to check and see if you have any benefits available. I was eligible for full medical for 25 years after being discharged and never knew it. Mine was based on an injury sustained while on active duty.

Health Insurance for Expediters; What do You See?

Our strategy: I get full VA benefits. Shayne says she will pay the fine. Maybe if no one signs up it will go away?

What are you going to do ?

One of the things that bothers me about this whole regulation of in use engines by CARB is the fact that they can change the rules at anytime. If I bought a new truck today what is to stop them from declaring it non compliant next year? As Moose pointed out, there is a change coming in 2018. LNG...
