Is your gas cap venting. My thought is as it runs down on fuel it's creating a vacuum and preventing the gas from flowing. My weed eater used to do this. Try taking off the gas cap, put it back on without adding fuel and see if it will run.

I've noticed that Pilot has been getting more expensive lately. Independent truck stops have been offering much better prices. Sometimes $.25 or more per gallon.
