    Watch Yourselves In LAREDO

Doing so is part of what led to our decision to not have a TV in the truck. We have one in the Florida house we recently purchased by default in that it came with the house. We're not there to watch it most of the time and when we are there it is off more than on. Now, let me return your...

    Watch Yourselves In LAREDO

When I said "contrary to popular belief" I had in mind polls that rank journalism (journalists) among the lesser trusted occupations. My experience with journalists is personal. In my political days (see bio) I was interviewed by literally hundreds of them; everyone from the local small-town...

    C-Link ?

No, they do not expect you to be in your vehicle at all times. When Diane or I are in the truck, we stay on C-Link. When we are away, we send in a message (code 08) that takes us off C-Link. When a truck is off C-Link, load offers are sent to contractors by telephone.

What is all the talk about fedex ?

The talk is self-explanatory. Read the posts.

Load Offer and other Straight Truck questions

If by respond you mean answering yes or no, ten minutes is too long. You generally know in a minute or two if it is an offer to accept or decline. As you come to know which express centers are good, you can often know in an instant if it is a good or bad offer. Our carrier gives us ten minutes...

    Air Tabs

I ended up pulling the air tabs off our roof because I got tired of replacing them. Like yours, our roof is not perfectly flat. If the trees don't take the air tabs out, the water does. It collects in the low spots on the roof and soaks away the effectiveness of the adhesive. A solution exists...

    Another Life After FedExCC

Yes, it very well could be, which is why Diane and I are actively investigating other options. We don't want to get caught flat-footed or unprepared. If FedEx Custom Critcial was spun off as an independent company that would no longer be connected with FedEX, it might be one of the best things...

    Another Life After FedExCC

That depends on the expediter, does it not? National reach means a great deal to Diane and me. We got into expediting partly to see the country and we love the drives into all states as much as ever.

    Another Life After FedExCC

When the company does not listen, people turn to other outlets. It provides an emotional and psychological release to get the gripes out of your system. It may not change anything for the better but it feels better at least to be listened to by expediter peers who understand what you mean. It...

    Low Paying Load Opps

Other companies are advertising and contractors with them are reporting much higher rates than those listed in this thread. Something significant has changed and it is not the supply of trucks. If it was truck supply, rates would be low across all companies. Regarding my post above, I want to...

    Low Paying Load Opps

Thank you for being honest about your frustrations. I too have tried to have my voice heard. I am not unknown at the company, an unskilled communicator, easily dissuaded, unfamiliar with corporate ways, or lacking in activist skills. However, there comes a time when the truth must be recognized...

    Low Paying Load Opps

You have the same C-Link we do, so I would think you could answer your own question. We see a mix of both. WG loads tend to go cheap because of too much deadhead but there are many surface expedite loads that are cheap when the pickup is right next door. Military loads used to be a no-brainer...

    Low Paying Load Opps

Are you saying you are accepting loads like the ones Doggie Daddie listed above? If so, the first accept would, in most cases, keep you from seeing the rest and quiet C-Link. That may be the explaination, if you are accepting such loads. Are you?

Of course you haven't. But a bunch of us have. So what's the explaination?

No phone call received. I made the change because my second choice of words better expressed what I meant.

    Low Paying Load Opps

I want to amend what I said to change "lazy" to "quick and easy." I don't think the dispatchers are lazy. I think they are now stretched so thin and so overworked that if something can be done quick and easy, it will be, regardles of the burden or irritation it shifts onto the contractors...

    Low Paying Load Opps

Load offers, whether they come by phone or C-Link, often interfere with sleep. Repeated offers now happen so often that it is beyond ridiculous. It is difficult to remain positive toward a company that expects you to get your needed rest and continually wakes you up with offers you have refused...

    Low Paying Load Opps

We receive a stream of crap (specifically, money-losing) load offers on an ongoing basis now. It is annoying and demoralizing, and becomes even more so when it continues days, weeks and months at a time. They no longer take the first refusal. We have to decline the same load sometimes three...

    Watch Yourselves In LAREDO

Reports like this illustrate the difference between what is now called citizen journalism and professional journalism. After looking at it, The Cypress Times earns no standing with me and I will put no faith in its reports without confirmation from more reliable sources. Yes, there have been...
