    Truck has be castrated

I was at Stoops in Lima, OH getting some seat work done and while I was there I got my truck "castrated" (speed limited) I checked it with the GPS and it topped out at 65mph. Now I will begin to see just how I like or dislike this. It cost me $48.00. It leaves with doubts in the back of my mind...

    Mileage

I finally got to handle a load that had a bit of weight to it. We ran from Richmond, VA to Miami FL. The load weighed 2456lbs. We filled up at the TA in Richmond, then again at the TA in Vero Beach, FL. We drove 844 miles, got 75.89 gallons of fuel. That works out to 11.12mpg.

    *&^%^ Speed Limiters!!

Now that we have little choice in the matter of limiting or not limiting our truck can someone please explain these goofy things to me? I read in here that some are saying that they are losing fuel mileage and performance. Can this happen? With all engines? I have an MBE4000-450. I spoke with...

    Fuel mileage update

The good fuel mileage continues for us. It does look like the Eco-Flaps are making a very big difference. Below are the results of the run we just finished. It was a TVAL load so the reefer ran on the continuas setting. It went from Louisville KY to Binghampton NY. Speeds: 55-63 Load weight...

    Eco Mud Flaps

We put on a set of the "ECO" mud flaps, the ones that are not solid but allow air to pass through them. We ran a load over the past 3 days, Ohio to CA. It was a very light load, 8lbs, so it may not be the best test but it seams that it has a pretty big affect on you MPG. We had been running in...

    *&$#*&( Repairs

I sometimes just HATE getting my truck worked on!! I had what I though was going to be quick repair on my transmission last week. It was not finding gears and "hunting" for them, shifting up an down VERY quickly an not engaging. I have a EatonFuller AutoShift. WELL, they replaced the...

    ON and QC speed limiter

I am leaning towards NOT limiting my truck to meet these laws. I feel that they are dangerous. Having said that I would still like more information. I know that it is a computer thing now. How much to do it and fix it back? Is there a "computer tool" to do it yourself? If so, how much and how...

    Wiper Blades

Is it just me or are wiper blades getting worse? I cannot seem to find a blade that will work properly on my truck. I have tried 6 or 7 different brands, types, sizes and they all seem to streak or miss entire areas of the windshield. They also freeze and then they really miss the glass. When I...

    Tire pressure

I have gone back to running everyday air in my tires vs. nitrogen. I was just having too much trouble finding places that could keep them up and the cost was too high. I bought a decent air compressor so I can get really good cold pressures at the house and I can keep it up on the road easier...

    Great Service Again!!

I ran into a minor but very annoying problem with the new box. If I ran the lift gate up all the way it would get jammed up under that box and had to be broken free using a 5' long breaker bar. I had today free so I ran the truck up to the Western Branch Diesel shop in Canton OH. They broke it...

    New Box Pics

Hey Moose ( and anyone else who wants to look) here are a few pics of the new box. On another note, did anyone know that a load bar with TVAL sensors could fall off a wall after 20 minutes and cause you to have to retest 2 days later? I thought this was a New Year. Must be Obama's fault (humor...

    Gull Darn Freighliner

I just had a second AMU replaced on my M2 model M112 in just over a year. I had to wait 5 days for the part. Had to have it shipped in from Florida. There were only 3 in the entire country. I was told by 2 Frieghtliners that this part is defective and 8-12 months is the norm. Anyone else having...

    $&#%*&$ ProHeat!!

OK, How is this for a problem. My ProHeat came on the other night to re-charge the batteries. I was not in my truck at the time. It blew a cork and I found oil EVERYWHERE on the unit and my parking spot at the house. The engine did shut down and there is no sign of a spontanious dis-asembly. I...

    Fuel Mileage

Mind you, I am not complaining, but my fuel mileage has been getting better lately. Today I had a short 250 mile dead head for a load later and I got 12.7mpg on that run. A month ago I would have got around 11. I am driving at the same speeds and using the same additive I have used since I got...

    HY-Tech Roof Coatings

Has anyone in here ever used any of the products by a company called HY-Tech? They make ceramic paints. You see thier stuff on school busses every where. The white paint on the roofs. Window Shades

One good and inexpensive way to increase the effeciency of your APU is with insulated window shades. My wife made ours out of the silver bubble type insulation that is sold at Lowes or Home Depot. It comes in roles and is used for wrapping hot water tanks etc. She cut it to fit the windows and...
