Tell About Your funniest or scariest truckin

I will never forget the scariest! It was back in the winter of 1993. I had just started expediting for Roberts Express, and drove a very light Mitsubishi cabover. I was northbound on 23 headed for Toledo a little past midnight, and a really bad storm had hit that night. There were very high...

    sell or trade??

RE: sell or trade??(there's 1 in the classifieds) Hey.. just noticed that in the classified section of this site, there is someone wanting to trade his 22 ft reefer box for a 22 ft dry box! Could be the answer! Did you try contacting him? He advertised on 8-16-02.. who knows, he might still...

    sell or trade??

The reefer D-Units I've seen with big sleepers, usually have the reefer mounted underneath the truck. I know Alumibunk does it that way... I'm sure other companies would be able to do so.. You "might" be able to get in touch with them and see if they can just get reefer boxes, instead of...

    >i'm getting into expediting and was wondering what an >average day would be like? > > > > 6:00am... waken up by the sound of the other 129 trucks in the lot firing up and pulling out. 6:30am.. give up on trying to go back to sleep and try to figure out how you lost one of your boots in a 72"...

    sell or trade??

I agree.... you could probably get a nice reefer box for less than what you would lose on a trade or trying to sell it quick.. the resale market is low right now.. because there are so many out there. If you've got a good truck, it would be better.. in MY opinion.. to just change the box...

    LTL Freight

WHY NOT???? > > > In order to pick up LTL loads, you would have to have your own authority. While you are leased to a company, you cannot run a load on your own, while you are under a load for them. In order to run your own load, you must be empty, and cover up all signs of the company you...

Does anybody know what Panther pays a "D" unit??

RE:Panther pay >Thanks for the reply. Is this about the same as other >companies are paying? > > I think, but I'm not sure, that they're one of the only one's with a flat rate. I know FedEx's rates go up and down. I've ran loads for $1.00 a mile, and ran short ones for almost $2.00 a mile...

Does anybody know what Panther pays a "D" unit??

RE:Panther pay >Does anyone know what Panther pays per mile on "D" units >now? They used to be $1.35, but I heard it changed? > > > According to the recruitment info they just sent me :) all their rates have went down since I talked to them a few years back. Cargo Vans $ .77 per mile (2,000...

    Just Getting Started

    >Is this the slow time for expediting ?????? > > This is normally the busiest time of the year... if your carrier can't keep you running now thru December, they sure can't keep you running the rest of the year.

    Article on Sprinter

This was an interesting review on the Sprinter, which apparently is going to have some changes. Originally marketed as a Mercedes Benz, then Freightliner, next year it will be marketed as a Dodge! Also, it will made availible as a cab-chassis so it can be fitted with a variety of boxes...

Dodge 1 ton P/U with CTX

Pat: I know CTX used to use pick-up trucks, but I don't know anyone else who does.. I have seen CTX signs on 4 door crew cab trucks, and once in Detroit, even on a little Ford Ranger. I would contact them directly and query as to whether they still accept them, and what the requirements are...

    Wall in a Cargo Van

When I was running in a van, we had 1" plywood bolted to a 1" square steel frame, which also extended out in an "h" shape to make the bedframe. I also found a hinged 6"x8" cut-out door in the middle of the wall, made it handy to "eyeball" the load without going outside and around the van. I had...

CF closed (Kind of Off topic, but maybe not)

To say that shock was reigning supreme here in Columbus Ohio today, is an understatement. The news reporters were outside the Consolidated Freightways yard as word spread mouth to mouth among drivers, and they starting pulling up to the yard to find it barricaded. With no warning to drivers...

I would like some info please?

What direction do you live from Columbus? I live about 40 minutes south and ran about a year in a van for FedEx CC before I changed to a D-Unit. I don't know for sure how it is with other companies, but I never had a problem getting a load out of here. I got a lot from the Chillicothe to...

What are the old posters up to

LOL...you're allowed a max of 6 "occurences"....so most folks just take a few days at a time, being a utility co, they really need people alert on the job, not feeling sick, or "high" on cold/flu medicine....it's kind of a nice thing to know you can take the time you need with out losing money.:)
