Wall in a Cargo Van

Hi All,
I'm about to buy a Cargo Van but I'm wondering what some of you use to separate the cab area from the cargo space(if anything). I've seen the Ford Van with the Alumi-Bunk set up. Looks like it would stop the noise from the cargo area while driving but it also seems like a pretty small area for anyone over 5'10" not being able to stretch or spread out, being that there's only 2 feet between the wall and front seats. Still better than nothing I guess, and the wall is solid enuff to stop any loosed cargo in an emergency stop.

I've also seen some pictures of the Sprinter with a sleeper. It looks real nice with the TV/VCR and frig and microwave, but I was told there was only somewhere between 8 1/2 and 9 ft. of cargo space left after the sleeper. A couple of Carriers have told me they wanted a length of 9 ft in the cargo space for the van to qualify before they would lease it.

Anyway what kind of setup do you have or want?

Thanks, and drive safe

Hi Ramrod,
There are many diferent things that you can do! I met a guy that had a wall built and it was attachedto the van with hinges so he could swing it out of the way for more room. Another setup I saw was a garage door that opened up and to the back of the van. I have a solid wood wall in my van that splits the side doors with a fold down bed, or should I say fold up bed. I use the room under the bed for storage. I also mounted a piece of fiberglass in back of the jump seat and mounted a TV/VCR. It's not the Radison but it's good enough for a day or two.

The best thing I did was met and talked to alot of people and ask them to show me thier set up until I saw what I wanted. Good Luck

When I was running in a van, we had 1" plywood bolted to a 1" square steel frame, which also extended out in an "h" shape to make the bedframe. I also found a hinged 6"x8" cut-out door in the middle of the wall, made it handy to "eyeball" the load without going outside and around the van. I had just over 8 ft of cargo room, and had a 36" wide bed, aprox 2 feet off the floor. I had plenty of room for storage and my 2nd battery underneath, plus I removed the jumpseat and placed my cooler there. When parked, I simply pulled my tv out from under the bed, sat it on the cooler, pulled the wrap around curtains my wife made :) :) and relaxed! By the way, this was an extended Ford F350, therefore the extra room for the bed. As Teacel said, not the Radison, but I could comfortably stay out several days in the van. Luckily, the van loads seemed to be around my home area alot, so I usually got home once or twice a week without having to go out of service. It was when I switched to the D Unit that I stayed out longer, tho I must admit, in more comfort! It was nice being able to stand up to change clothes.. LOL :)

Heck when I am empty I just throw down a heavy duty dropcloth and I then blow up my Aerobed air matress (very tough material) and I use my Inverter to plug the builtin pump and in 60 seconds I have a full size bed! Used it twice so far and man what a good nights sleep I had. I have my laptop computer that plays DVD's when I can't sleep. Oh yes I have the Savana 2500 Gmc van.
Frank.
