What are the old posters up to

Well...my view doesn't change everyday, but I'm warm in the winter, cool in the summer...LOL I now work for a utility company in Columbus Ohio. Decent pay, they pay benefits for me and my family, 2 weeks vacation, paid holidays, 6 weeks sick pay, (yes 6 weeks), and actually good to their...

    Hi Everyone

Just wanted to stop by the forum after being away for a while and say hi. Lawrence...love the new look and new graphics! As those who have kept in contact by email know, I lost my ride back in December, due to the owner I was driving for deciding to get out of the business. I really did...

    Whats your MPG?

On my last long trip, Columbus Ohio, to New Orleans Louisiana, I managed 12.77 mpg, with a 225 Cummins in a 1996 FL70. Mind you, this was straight interstate driving the whole way. I normally averaged about 10 mpg on most trips if I kept it below 65 mph.

    Question for FDXCC Contractors

This is the first I'd heard of it... My pay for quite a while has been that 50% up front money. The owners of the trucks, and I , have liked the fact that once I get my advance, the pay question is over, unless there is detention time or something. No figuring up percentages, making sure our...

    Unemployed!

Well folks, looks like I'm gonna be out of the business for a while. The owner I've been driving for has decided to sell all of his trucks (4) and get out of the business after many years. I just found out last week, and take my truck to Canton on Friday, Dec. 22, to get the C-Link out, then...

    Best company for a B

I agree with the previous commentor. When we are timed to get to a delivery in a certain amount of time, we don't have time to stop and try to figure out directions. The time spent finding a place to pull over, call, write down directions, check the maps to see how it looks on paper, would...

Number of days on the Road

I, too, prefer to go home, keeping the shorter runs, however, staying out at least a week seems to be the preferred way. I did break my own rule this week however, running south and west of Mississipi on the same run...LOL....got suckered in by the money for that 924 mile weekend load from...

    Rates?

You will find a wide range of rates for vans in the expedite business, 75 cents to $1.10 or highter, but the average seems to be about .90 to $1.00 per loaded mile.

"How to get a good run..."

Hey guys, I finally found two good ways to guarantee being offered great runs!!! It really works..... If you're at home, and you've been there all day, order pizza for delivery....the next phone call will be Dispatch. If on the road, splurge a little, stop at a nice steak restaurant, and...

Just thought it was kind of cool that Overdrive Magazine, normally geared towards the more "traditional" truckers, named an Expediter as Trucker of the Month. -----------------------------------------------

Canada Arrest at the Canadian Border

Not to get something going, but it was not an "Urban Legend", it came straight from the BMV, a lady I knew, who had just got done talkng to the driver. He was in getting set up for retesting, making appointment for new drivng test, same as me, when I updated mine. She said it was treated as if...

Canada Arrest at the Canadian Border

While at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles today taking care of some things, a clerk there who knew I was in this business told me of a man who had just left. He got pulled for an inspection at the Canadian border and was discovered not to have the proper liscence, (he had a no-airbrake...

    driven job

RE: driving job Bluethunder, Have you placed an ad in the classified section of this site? I did and received approximately 15 replies, over 10 within the first 2 weeks. I would say at least half were for van driving jobs, which was what I originally advertised for, but I got a few C and D...

    Best company for a B

Maybe I'm looking at this wrong, but wouldnt doing all that negate the very reason you go with a B unit? My personal reason for wanting to run a B is for simplicity of operation, less regulations, such as log books, scales, etc., while still making a decent amount of money. If you were going...
