You are correct. I was just poking at Tim, Lol.. I had the same K&N filter for about 2 years now. Trapped dirts and other particles can be cleaned with special cleaner and rinsed off with water. After the filter dried you spray some pink gooey sticky stuff on it to help trap more dusts...
